07:04 AM ET 02.28 | Jeff Gordon didn't just end a 66-race winless streak that stretched nearly two years, he sent a reminder across a sport suddenly enamored by a Daytona 500 champion nearly half his age that he still knows how to get it done. In just the second race with crew chief Alan Gustafson, Gordon blew by Kyle Busch with eight laps remaining, spoiling Busch's attempt to sweep all three races during the chilly, windswept weekend. "Man, we just beat Kyle Busch," Gordon said upon crawling out of his burgundy Chevrolet.

Wow, times have changed huh? Gordon won his first Nascar Championship when Kyle Busch was about 10 years old and now he says it's a big deal to beat him.

Anyway, now I'm going to be fed a ration of chiitt from some of my friends who are big Jeffy fans. No worries, they've got some catching up to do.

LOL REX, your a hard man,LOL, Jeff was beside hisself beating The Busch Baby, he did it in true fashion though, good race yesterday.

It seems like Jeff took some time getting used to the newer car design. There wasn't really that chemistry with Letarte that Jeff had with Evernham or even Loomis. You could hear the excitement in his voice during the race and even at Daytona. Jeff and Gustafson could be a great combination.

Rex, the way I look at it, Bush as a lot of catching up to do with Jeff...not the other way around. ;-))

Listening to Jeff's post race comments took some of the sting off Kyle getting beat. It does show that Kyle is the man. Congrats to Jeff and it looks like he got the better deal in the crew chief swap at Hendrick.

the chemistry Gordon had w Evernham is next to impossible to find...the only other team to hit on that is the 48 w Chad Knaus. give the 48 most any other crew chief and he would be average to good, not great or even close.
by the way, did Knaus get a rug? i saw him on a SPEED tv show, and he had a lot more hair than i thot he did..

Congrats to JG for a nice finish. As much KB bashing that goes on it says alot for how good of a driver Kyle is if JG is that excited to have beat him. I am not a real fan of either but have complete respect for both of thier driving ability.

February 28, 2011  10:20 AM ET

Very happy for Jeffy.
Also happy that it was a true win...worked it, pass, pass again and won it...the best kind.
As for Kyle bashing, I don't think even the worst of haters deny his driving skills.

Frank A...I noticed that too.....different hair colour and maybe combed forward??....Chad looked yoi\unger yesterday, whatever he did.

February 28, 2011  10:22 AM ET

Oooops "yoi\unger" should be "younger".

February 28, 2011  10:38 AM ET

Chad is happy and has a younger look if Jeff does well . When Jeff is running good he doesn't go looking to harass J.J. and Chad seeing he has an interest in that team financially. Not really but it was all I could think of at the time. LOL

A hotdog like Gordon should have the mustard to relish a win over a Busch.

And Jr again well behind his two much better teammates....

Happy to see the 24 get a win...especially over the 18. KB did well bouncing back from getting nailed (again..2 weeks in a row!). KB taking 2 of 3 this weekend..seems like he's picking up where he left off last season. I hate that guy <lol>. Good finish for the 88..top 10 finish. If he can keep the tires from going flat and keep the lugs tight..a top 5 is looming. I had to laugh re: the LeTarte cheerleading though..that's a little much.

Non-existent.

Makes us even. Your posts are a waste of space and readers time..filled with nothing but BC manure.

And just to show what a dipstick you are...of course you had NOTHING to say about the Daytona 500..where Jr beat both the 24 and the 48. You are just a troll.

Hendricks said all along that the shakeup wasn't JUST for the 88 team. Seems like people are beginning to believe that now.

February 28, 2011  12:49 PM ET

Was good to see the 99 get some payback for Edwards' earlier race stupidity. I was actually hoping the 18 would take him out..

I had lots to say.

I said it's just as well he crashed out since he had no chance from the beginning anyway.

Not a troll, just somebody who disagrees with you.
