France: No big Chase changes

NASCAR Chairman Brian France said he doesn't anticipate any big tweaks for the Chase For The Nextel Cup format for next season as a pair of Hendrick Motorsports drivers have broken away from the 12-driver pack compete for the title. France, speaking after being a panelist Friday at a business summit at Phoenix International Raceway, said he was happy with the format, which seeded drivers for the Chase based on wins and also added five more points for a win week to week. He was especially pleased with Jimmie Johnson going for the win last week at Texas, where he earned five more points than he would have a year ago.

"He is happy with the format"......too bad he does not listen to the fans.....maybe it will take 95% empty seats to make him wake up.......and 95% is where it will end up if things don't get better over the next few years..........
And a Nascar chairman should not be saying he is glad a specific driver won....what does that say to the other drivers???...where is his sense of propriety ? ...OOOOPS redundant question, he does not have any.

Call me crazy, but I liked the look of the old Edsels, back in the day.......they were on the market for what , 2 yrs??

I like how all week the SI site has said Harvick clinched Busch title? Don't they know anything about racing??

November 10, 2007  04:53 PM ET

Brian France is ruining Nascar. He and his henchman Mike Helton change the rules interpretation continually. They started it in Daytona this year cheating Mark Martin out of a win. Sometimes they freeze the field and other times they don't depending on what they think will make good TV. In reality Nascar racing is boring TV except for an avid race fan and France has turned his back on the fans that built the sport and now fans are turning their backs on Nascar. The change we need is GET RIDOF BRIAN FRANCE,

I've been following comments here for sometime, but never signed up until today.. I'll have to admit I haven't been a longterm fan of NASCAR, it's only been about 8 years or so. It is becoming more frustrating all the time to follow what seems to be a lot of inconsistency in the way the races are ran. I don't really like the chase format and will be one to watch the old points as long as someone will continue to publish them. I think the COT has potential, but I'd like to see them loose the pep boys pimp my ride wing that looks like crap! One thing I like is that the car is symmetrical. I never cared for the twisted looking ones either. Please take the races away from ABC and Rusty needs to be kept away from the microphone, he just likes to hear himself talk way too much! OK I've said enough for someone that just finally signed up today to post.

I DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT FRANCE ,BUT BEFORE THIS RECENT SLUMP MILLIONS OF NEW FANS STARTED WATCHING.FOR BETER OR WORSE NASCAR IS CHANGING IT'S ALWAYS BEEN AND IT ALWAYS WILL.I HOPE COMPLAINING ABOUT FRANCE WILL BRING ABOUT THE CHANGES YOU WANT HA HA .MABEY IT'S TIME TO ROLL WITH THE CHANGE'S.

Thanks all for the nice welcome.. P.S. I'd love to see Dale Jr. get one before he leaves! It sure looks like he has done a heck of a job of driving this last season with DEI.
