09:05 AM ET 03.01 | The Cowboys have not closed the door on Marcus Spears and Gerald Sensabaugh to return, but they have left it wide open for both starters to explore the free-agent market. Meanwhile, the club is poised to extend tender offers to key players in the next few days to get its house in order before an expected lockout plunges the NFL into darkness later this week. Spears and Sensabaugh will be unrestricted free agents in whatever system is adopted going forward. The club's stance with both should come as no surprise.

They're not the only team. Redskins just released Portis, among others. Looks like the owners are digging in for the long haul.

The only team that is actively resigning players is Oakland...that should tell you something.

No big loss. Spears has been a first round bust. Sensabaugh was a member of one of the worst secondaries in football last year.

Which is why the Cowboys will take a DE in the first round.

They probably wish they could let most of their players test the market.

Aaron Rodgers was taken four picks after Spears in that draft -2005. Ware did come from it though with the 11th pick.

So what? When spears was drafted, Dallas had Drew Bledsoe at QB and Romo backing him up...
Rodgers was a waste and still is when considering we have Romo...title or no title, it takes a team to win the SuperBowl and Rodgers would not have won one here either.
Please note that Spears was a Bill Parcells pick.
Spears will not be back because we can draft younger guys with more upside and less cost...
Sensabaugh is only coming back if his salary is relative to his play...otherwise, he will walk too...
Bottom line:
Spears, Sensabaugh, Brooking, and Ball all need to be replaced....going young here would not hurt since our D already stunk anyway!!

So after reading you have Romo and don't need Rodgers I can no longer consider your opinion valid on anything football related

Yeah, that Al's as senile as ever. They don't have a first round pick this year, so Ol' Al actually may draft his first player where he's actually ranked.

haha Well the prime time draft hurt him last year....way past his bed time and a little before Old Country Buffet opens so they got a pick that made sense (McClain)

Add Igor to this list...

Sensabaugh is a serviceable player if he's willing to be paid what he's worth. My guess is he will be back.
Spears - meh, just a guy. Never fulfilled his potential. Why is Igor still on the team? He was the invisible lineman most of last season. Brooking is a great guy, terrific leader, but the years have caught up with him. I could see him being a coach sometime in the future.

Hindsight being what it is, the Cowboys should have drafted Rodgers. But at THAT point in time, the Cowboys liked who they had at quarterback. Teams make that kind of decision all the time - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

They should sign with a CFL team.
At least they will receive a paycheck while the NFL is in lockout

I dont care who they let go as long as they keep Mike Jenkins. That guy tackles like my sister.

Oh please no. They have to get help in the secondary and have more needs on the OL than on the DL.
Then again, who knows what Jerrah will do with his pick? He probably doesn't know either and won't till the 'Boys get on the clock.

Even the CFL has standards, Texson.
