07:34 AM ET 03.02 | With the MLS season about two weeks away, the youngest coach in league history is prepared to call upon the oldest player in league history to start in goal for D.C. United. Pat Onstad, 43, retired in December and would have been perfectly content serving in his intended role as the club's goalkeepers coach ahead of the March 19 opener against the Columbus Crew at RFK Stadium.

On the same topic, according to Soccer Insider (from the same article I gather): Hamid is getting pretty frustrated because he hasn't been cleared to play by the team doctors yet. He says that he feels 100%, but hasn't gotten the OK.

Shocker... the only goalie that isn't injured or swiss cheese.

Yeah, true that. He played well last year, I think, so I don't see this as being too much of an issue. It's better than the Troy Perkins Experiment.

In other news, who's excited for the first real MLS T&R of the new season!?

I would be, but I'm left with a song in my head...

DC United went to Rome to see the Pope
Rome to see the Pope
Rome to see the Pope

DC United went to Rome to see the Pope
and this is what he said...

"Who the **** is DC United?!?"
"Who the **** is DC United?!?"
"Who the **** is DC United?!?"

The Fire marches on!
