08:55 AM ET 03.02 | Michael Vick will sign his franchise tender from the Eagles on Wednesday, two weeks after the team placed the tag on the quarterback, a league source said Tuesday. Some players dislike being franchised, but when the Eagles tagged him on Feb. 15, Vick told reporters that he was "proud to be an Eagle." He later tweeted that "2011 will be a huge success."

What else was he going to do? He's up to his ears in debt and the franchise tag will pay him millions to play for a team that gave him a second chance and a fan base that has embraced him.

If Vick starts dancing the free-agent shuffle and whining about being tagged he destroys the feel-good redemption story. He must know it's too soon to throw away all that good will.

Assuming there's a CBA in place. Don't spend that franchise salary yet, Mike.

Whatever knew this was gonna happen... smart move to just franchise as opposed to long term deal (which they can't till the CBA right?), seems near the end of last year teams were starting to figure him out again and hey this guy just ain't gonna last long running around like he does... be best to actually keep Kolb there Philly.

You got it. They do not like him well enough to have come up with a long term deal, but enough to look at him one more year.
They can't move Kolb. They know that too.

The city is two years removed from a World Series win. You're simple.

Yes, they'll embrace him as long as he wins. Like almost all fans, they'll tolerate quite a bit if you win for them. If the Eagles start losing, they'll turn on him like rabid dogs.
