Bruins power play struggling

10:05 AM ET 03.02 | To give the power play a power boost, the Bruins acquired defenseman Tomas Kaberle from Toronto, essentially to provide point blaster Zdeno Chara with a partner to toss him the puck. Kaberle, a master passer, has come just as advertised, delivering his spot-on relays, leaving Chara to fire away from the right faceoff circle or just above it. For all the good look and fine feel, though, the power play has not delivered. In their last four games -- victories at Calgary, Vancouver, Edmonton, and Ottawa -- the Bruins were 0-for-8 on the man-advantage. That's not horrible ... But it's not great either.

Wow spam already??? They are getting quick...

March 2, 2011  10:14 AM ET

It may take some time for them to get accustom to playing with each other on the powerplay. I still think this was a great deal for the Bruins.

0 for 8, dag. what happens when they go 7 for 12 in their next 4 games? We gonna get a story on that too?

They forgot to mention the Bruins just finished a 6-0 road trek. If you're getting it done at 5 on 5 quit your whining. Dammit the Boston Globe's starting to sound like Pens fans.

Pretty much this. The Flyers PP has been inconsistant at best and absolute crap at worst all season long. Our 5 on 5 play is why we are where we are. Boston is picking it up at exactly the right time of the year. These guys are going to be dangerous in the playoffs if they stay healthy.

i dont know what game the globe was watching last night but the power play wasnt the issue...they were getting some real quality shots off, just getting knocked down in front of the net or just missing...you gotta give it to the sens last night, they didnt look like a team coming off of a fire sale

This is the very reason that the Flyers and Bruins will get dumped in the first round. NO SPECIAL TEAM ON the PP...:) Bring on The Price is Right.

The best part was Saturday's 3-1 drubbing of a certain team....

Only if they lose those games.

You say that like it might be a bad thing?

Hard to score when you use the same tactic over and over again. Maybe they should try and not just line up Big Z with a slap shot and maybe work some passes down low to Lucic or someone in the middle. Pretty hard to score when the other 29 teams in the league already know how to defend against you.

East Conf finals could easily be the Bruins and Flyers...
still plenty of hockey left - good times

They beat the Laffs the next night. I thought you guys like it when the Laffs lose?
Not quite the "drubbing" like game 7 2 years ago.

But by the sound of it the power play could be the worst part of a Bruin Flyers series ;-)
