08:29 AM ET 03.03 | Seahawks QB Matt Hasselbeck could be poised to test the NFL's free-agent waters. Hasselbeck just turned down Seattle's last offer. They're concerned about getting him re-signed. "They're not close on a contract yet," said NFL Network's Michael Lombardi on Wednesday's edition of NFL Total Access.

The scary thing is that some QB-needy team will actually pay this guy big bucks.

Isn't he knocking on 40's door?

March 3, 2011  08:38 AM ET

How can he negotiate a contract, or refuse to sign a contract, or explore signing with another team when the NFL will shut down at midnight?

March 3, 2011  08:39 AM ET

He'll sign. If he doesn't he'll be a year depreciated if this lockout stands. He aint no spring chicken.

Stupid!

Mr Newton, welcom to Seattle.

Because he can't do it after midnight. It's like Cinderella.

Roger Goodell thinks he's Prince Charming, but it's Rex Ryan who's going around trying that glass slipper on every foot in the kingdom.

I don't have his stats in front of me - but when was the last time he played a full season?

He is one hit (and probably would not even need to be a hit) away from having to retire b/c of his back problems, and he thinks he worth the big bucks? sorry dude - you played for a 7-9 team last season

"Hasselbeck, the Cardinals are on line 1."

14 hours and 58 minutes before I fall into a deep depression...

and Vikings are on line 2. The Dolphins are on hold.

They should go after Carson Palmer. I'm sure Pete would love him to have him back.

With Larry Fitzgerald on line 2 saying trade me

Good point.

He's 35, will turn 36 in September. Definitely no spring chicken in NFL years.

March 3, 2011  09:26 AM ET

Palmer for Hasselbeck straight up might make sense, if Hasselbeck weren't a free agent. Cincy gets an experienced, although aging, quarterback while getting rid of a guy who doesn't want to be there. Seattle gets an experienced, although aging, quarterback who will be happier on the left coast.

Both teams need to draft into that position, and have a year or two to develop a new QB. Neither team is going anywhere in 2011, even if there is a season.

Curt Warner is probably still available ...

March 3, 2011  10:30 AM ET

His stock rose dramatically the day he put it to the Saints defense. He should wait it out. Smart on his part. It will only go up when all is done with the CBA.
Supply and demand at work.

He can manage a game, though I don't think he can win the game for you. Anyone drafting a R1 QB should take a look at him. Nothing more than a stop-gap at this point in his career but could show the rookie the ropes of the NFL.

Matt Leinart is probably available....
