06:11 AM ET 03.04 | Turns out the "conversations" Robert Gallery had with the Raiders were preliminary contract talks, and the two sides weren't even in the same ballpark. I thought it was off the record, but the Oakland Tribune is running with it so here goes: Raiders say Gallery wanted $8 mil, while they offered $2.5 mil. Oakland wasn't going to budge too much since it was 6-6 with Gallery in the lineup and 2-2 without him, when Daniel Loper took his place. Raiders left guard Robert Gallery told ESPN today that, after conversations with Al Davis, they have mutually decided it was time for him to continue his career elsewhere.

Calling Leslie Frazier........pick this guy up.....

March 4, 2011  07:04 AM ET

after all the BS we took getting this dope of a high draft pick to turn around....I doubt anyone will pick him up for that $$

Al Davis continues to destroy his team.

March 4, 2011  07:33 AM ET

Good for you, Robert. Run like Heyward-Bey!

March 4, 2011  07:48 AM ET

He was turnstile at guard, kept letting people through. Goodbye you are the weakest link. Maybe not the team needs alot of help. When you leave Robert take the Crypt Keeper, Al Davis, with you.

Best thing to happen to ya man.

Exactly!!! Dude has been, at best, average. And that might be overstating it.

He sure as hell isn't worth $8 Mil...

If even Al Davis can see that you're not worth the money you're being paid, well, that should tell you (and the rest of the league) something.

Career suggestion, dude: Learn to speak Pakistani and maybe you can get a cab driver job in New York.

And don't run up any $100K bar tabs, for the moment. Your next paycheck may be a long time coming.

He was another first round bust for the enlightened Al Davis. Davis is such a ****.

ahhhhhhh....nothing like the smell of fried spam in the morning.

This dude is a bust compared to his #2 overall draft pick status. They drafted him to be a T and had to move him to G because he sucked so bad. I'd let him walk as well.

March 4, 2011  08:16 AM ET

Don't give Al too much credit with this move. After all, he DID keep Gallery this long...

March 4, 2011  08:20 AM ET

I hate to say it, but (for the right price) he would be an upgrade at guard compared to what we have now.

Hey Stephen Neal just retired, Patriots could use a guard... but $8 million is pretty steep for this guy. You think he is really asking that, or just using a crazy number as a polite way to get out of Oakland?

March 4, 2011  08:32 AM ET

Can't blame Al for this one Gallery was supposed to be the biggest sure thing in that draft. But maybe it was the Raiders coaching staff

I thought you were suppose to keep Peyton alive.

You must not have seen our guards play last season. Gallery CANNOT be worse than that mess!
