06:57 AM ET 03.04 | An interesting point about the Packers' decision to release A.J. Hawk and then try to re-sign him is that a bunch of teams tried to get their foot in the door and sign Hawk on Wednesday. How much Hawk and McCartney used that leverage in negotiations isn't known, but it sure couldn't have hurt his cause.

I was surprised that he did resign with the Pack, because at the beginning of last year he was saying he wanted to be traded. I guess a Super Bowl ring will change your mind.

Not surprising. Hawk has some serious weaknesses that are covered up by playing alongside Matthews. Very doubtful he could have commanded a major contract from another team, not even from some of the dumb owners out there.

That was the plan all along. Wasn't worth the contract he had but is better slotted with this one.

I wonder why they didn't say anything about that they did cut Donald Lee and Derrick Martin?

I was thinking of our nation's capital. Of course, in Washington, Danny Boy looks like a rocket scientist by comparison.
