Peterson's injury scares Vikings
From an aesthetic standpoint, the Vikings' 34-0 loss Sunday was frightening on many levels. The scariest moment, though, was easy to pinpoint. That came with 1:15 left in the third quarter when rookie running back Adrian Peterson went down at the end of an 11-yard reception after taking a hit from Green Bay cornerback Al Harris. Peterson was able to walk off the field, and the preliminary diagnosis was a sprained right knee, although the team's first-round draft pick will undergo a magnetic resonance imaging test today. Peterson said there was nothing dirty about the hit and that it happened so fast, he wasn't sure if it was a shoulder pad or helmet. Peterson felt good enough on the sideline that he lobbied to go back into the game, but the lopsided score made that argument irrelevant.

vikes have nothing on offense without him. decent defense wasted on a miserable offense. shame, this team is completely opposite the bengals. combine the 2 teams and they might be undefeated.
as it is, both teams will be looking at a top 10 draft pick this spring

At what point do you call it a day?
If Peterson said he was well enough to go back in, but the team says "No, look at the scoreboard, we have no chance. Take a seat.", then maybe he shouldn't have been out there when you're playing like crap and down by 4 TDs. You have a responsibility to your fans to put the best team on the field at all times, but the long term health of your squad factors in too. Maybe that's why I'm not a coach, because I'm realistic enough to know we aren't going to win, and it's better to call it a day, skip the showers, and head out the back exit pronto.

Hope the kid only has a sprain. His knee troubles coming ou of college are what made him available to the Vikes in the first place, so here's hoping this is nothing much, because he is a sight to see on the field

The only knock on this guy coming into the draft was his straight up running style. People wondered if he could stay healthy especially given his history at OU. That's why he slipped to 7.

I wish him a healthy return. Never want a player to go down even if they are a division rival.

I believe Peterson had a high ankle sprain his Freshman or Sophomore yrs in college & then his Jr. Yr he fractured his collarbone b/c he was stupid & his dad was watching him for the 1st time in like 8 or 9 yrs (since he was in prison) & it was late in the game & he had scored on a long run & then he just dives in the endzone landing on his collarbone & ending his regular season w/the Sooners, yet he comes back again another dumb move in the Bowl game & hurts his collarbone again & then teams don't want to take a chance on him again after the Charles Rogers WR who had 2 broken collarbones in consecutive yrs. But, instead of having another surgery AP just rehabs instead of surgery & it gets better.
I do think the hit yesterday was blatant, but that is how the NFL is. If you are a big RB & run high other teams target your knees & ankles & will try anything to bring you down & sure enough they did. The side angling hit on Peterson looks as if he tore something similar to the Culpepper & the Rodney Harrison injury a side impact forcing the knee violently inward. Hopefully, it is a sprain, but why rush him back so that he can catch & rush on passes thrown by Bollinger. Could the Vikings trade for McNabb in the off-season?? Could a 2nd or 3rd rd pick be offered and get Donovan??

Broken collarbones are not a problem. They grow back stronger than they originally were.
Donovan for a 2nd AND 3rd.

I don't see how it was a cheap hit? Peterson just happened to plant his leg when harris came in at the same time and hit him. I don't think Harris even expected him to be where he was.

Packers have a good defense, and the corners can hit (low and at the knees in Al Harris' case).
But Adrian is a descendent of Hercules.

AD throws his whole body into the game on every play. It'll always be injuries or near misses for him. But when he's healthy he's amazing.

First of all, the hit looked like to me a cheap one. Why go for the knees? I know he is a big strong guy, but come on, whatever way you slice it, it was cheap. I don;t like Harris and never have. and i DO NOT care if he was injured in college, THAT has nothing to do with what happened yesterday. ANY back would have gotten hurt.
The problem with the Vikes is that the coach has to go. They should not have to rely on 1 person to carry their offense and that is what we are faced with. Did any great team rely on 1 person, NO, they have great backs AND receivers. If we don't get a good QB and good receivers, Peterson will be getting hurt all the time because he will be the only guy with the ball.
Now when do we call for Childress's head? Was that a totally pathetic showing from a supposed PRO team? 34-0!!!! This guy is now 9-16 and Wilf wants to keep him, WHY?!!! This coach is useless, he is a poor judge of talent and will not ever be a winning coach or is it that the owner is cheap? I am still trying to figure that one out.
But to say that AP is injury prone, come on, do you think he PLANNED to get a cheap shot at his knee?
