Red Wings goalies stay friendly
Dominik Hasek backed Chris Osgood up Sunday, but is slated to start Tuesday in St. Louis. Hasek missed three games because of a sore hip, but he has been healthy for a week and still Osgood has started two of the past three games. That neither is affected much by this -- Osgood with thoughts of taking over the No. 1 job, Hasek with grumblings about being demoted -- shows the value of having two veteran goalies. "It goes with our experience, probably," Hasek said. "We have proved ourselves in the NHL, and the team knows what they can expect from us. Probably 5-10 years ago it would be maybe different, but today with our experience, we don't have any problems. If Ozzie plays, I still have fun."

The only reason neither of them cares is because they are playing on the best team in the NHL right now. Who would complain about that?

Both goalies are veterans, both have "been there, done that". They cannot afford not to get along...it would hurt team chemistry and turn wins into losses.

Plus, they both know their roles. Hasek knows that just because he's not starting doesn't mean he isn't the starter. Come playoff time, it'll be a Czech between the pipes in Detroit, plain and simple. Hasek knows this, and so does Osgood. Ozzie's just enjoying the ride - playing well, winning lots, and playing lots. He knows he's still the backup, but that he'll play more than most (or any) backups in the league would, because of the necessity to baby Hasek until the big games that matter most. This is more of a non-story than anything else

they are 2 pros and they handling it that way. its no big deal, these guys are good friends of the ice, they respect each other, push each other and know the team is that much better with both of them doing well.....
it has been this way for couple years and fannation just took notice??? another BS story

why wouldn't they be friendly?! they are the best tandem in the league. Any team would kill to have 2 no.1 goalies. Every game Osgood plays during the regular season is one more Hasek can play in the playoffs...and if Hasek isn't healthy, then Ozzie has proven he is more than capable .My only question is... why hasn't Osgood broken out the "Wizard of Oz" mask they made for him after his rookie season? I would say by now he has more than earned it.

both goalies are great in their own respect. However, they both have their downsides. Ozzie usually has the tendency to let in a weak goal or 2 every once in a while, and hasek, though it works most of the time, needs to stay on his feet. He's a gambler and most of the time it pays off. I like both regardless and the team wouldnt be doing as well as they are w/o either one between the pipes.
As far as the wizard of Oz helmet, im pretty sure i heard he wont wear it because he's a supersticious guy and like his plain helmet. U just go with what's been working for u.
