08:27 AM ET 03.06 | A little birdie says the Vikings considered trading for Denver quarterback Kyle Orton but have backed off. But it wasn't because of any progress made by Joe Webb, who insiders say is nowhere close to being an effective starter.

Who writes about Little birdy's...anyway no they will not use Web as a starter. nor will they use T. Jack. I expect them to go after Vince Young or Kolb.

And I'm loving it. The Vikings are a gift that just keeps giving.

yes quite so, it's a shame, they still have a superbowl talented team, but without a qb it's a pipe dream

They certainly are. Probably not the best time for them to discuss moving. If a bad team is moved to California, will anyone care?

I know they'd care in Minnesota... big time! But Californians would not be so enthused.

Hed be a good player there.....They just need some stability at the qb, which they haven't had.they don't need another aging veteran or an unproven kid

Time for the Vikes' GM to step up and prove he can do his job. Brad Childress isn't around to take the blame for everything bad that happens to that team anymore.

Then why was it?

You never said!

As far as the NFL is concerned, Los Angeles is proven to be a city of fair weather fans.

They better hope Adrian Peterson stays healthy this year. If he goes down, they can count on a top five draft pick next year.

So, is the problem that Denver isn't ready to give him up yet? Tebowmania is a fan thing. He hasn't proven that he's an NFL quarterback yet. And, if he starts playing hero and running for first downs, he's going to need a solid backup, just like Michael Vick does.

They should still trade for him, he's better than anything they have right now, which isn't saying much.

I'm sure the Vikings are"considering" trading for a lot of QBs after the ***** era

Didn't want to spell the "F" word

Hello 4th Place in the NFC North - can 32nd place be far behind?

With their QB situation, yes it can.

Denver would be stupid to trade Orton now...Tebow is not ready yet and has proven very little
