09:42 AM ET 03.06 | The Wilpons are fighting ardently to retain the team, and it would not be unique for an ownership in financial hell to make its costliest players available. For the Mets, that would mean not only the free-agents-to-be, Carlos Beltran and Jose Reyes, but also Jason Bay, Francisco Rodriguez, Johan Santana and, yes, even seeing what would be available for organizational icon David Wright.

And now the Met Fans in NY will call into WFAN and have something else to cry about...

Forget the fact that alot of the players mentioned are hurt, coming off injury or just flat not that good... Now the fans can play victims to Madoff and blame the Wilpon's for ruining their summer...

... and let's not forget Perez. Shop or drop, he's gotta go. He's more than a waste of money - he's a waste of space.

They would get absolutely nothing in return for Perez, unless of course they offered to pay his entire salary thats left and were willing to take on another guy making more than he's worth... in other words the only option they got is to release Perez, no shopping available.

When your the Mets pretty much everyone is expendable.

Why would any team want to take these over priced losers off the Met's books? The only guy they might get something for is Wright.

Bad Bad Bad Analogy...

I'm so afraid of this coming true it is ridiculous. It might have the reverse effect though and actually brings fans TO the ballpark, unlike in Pitt.

So, you're saying that Beltran, Reyes, Bay and Perez have any trade value whatsoever? That's just myopic. And Santana and K-Rod have some value, but not at what they're getting paid.

Los Mets are hurting and will remain that way for the foreseeable future.

Here's the other idiot! It's funny how serious you peeps try to be.

Yeah, I'm jealous. I wish I could trade the Braves lineup and starting rotation for the Mets lineup and rotation. My second wish is to trade the Braves lineup for the Pirates lineup. Oh, please God, let it be so!

this is ridiculous. If the wilpons are gona do that they need to sell. this isnt little market teams like the marlins and the pirates. this is ny they have the money they made a mistake with the mardoff thing. give the mets fans a break. they have been killing the organization for years now they want to start fire selling the team off. baseball needs to force them to sell

Good luck with that. The other owners are smelling blood in the water.

Rebuilding and dumping players who are not your future is how you are supposed to do business. If you can not afford to sign a Jose Reyes then get the **** out! NOW!
