11:11 AM ET 03.07 | Arsene Wenger looks set to gamble in Arsenal's decisive Champions League clash against Barcelona after naming Robin van Persie and Cesc Fabregas in his 19-man squad. Both players came through a training session Monday morning despite serious concerns over their fitness. Van Persie was thought to be facing a five-week spell on the sidelines after he injured his knee during the Carling Cup final defeat to Birmingham eight days ago. However, after captain Fabregas came through a late test on his hamstring, Van Persie offered boss Wenger an unexpected boost by proving his fitness and now both could make surprise starts at the Nou Camp.

Finally!

Honestly it would be stupid not to include van Persie in the line-up if there's a chance he can play. Same for Fabregas. Either way I see Barca advancing. I hope I am wrong.

Ok, I went to the NYRB vs. Sporting KC game this weekend in Tucson:

1. Great to see a game first hand, rather than on TV. Changes the whole viewing experience, so I am jealous of those of you who can do so on a regular basis. Be thankful for the crappy teams you have, at least you have crappy teams to watch???

2. The two semi-pro teams that played before the pro teams were fun to watch and provided a good game. 3-3 final score, with the home town team coming back from a 3-1 halftime deficit.

3. Sporting KC was not very impressive in what they did, but were very solid. Not a lot of flash or excitement, but business-like in their approach across the board.
NYRB has a lot of explosive players, and were fun to watch but they could not find the net despite the various chances.

4. Dane Richards is amazingly fast! Dane Richards has no control what-so-ever with the ball! Therefore, if Dane Richards wasn???t so fast???No team would want him.
On a side note: Dane Richards is the MLS equivalent to Jermaine Defoe???

5. What is the etiquette on wearing jerseys to games? I saw everything under the sun from Mexican national teams to French national teams to various Mexican club teams??? very confusing.

Also, to carry the conversation over from the last thread:

If you haven't heard, Louis van Gaal is leaving during the summer, so he will be retained through the end of the season. Leading people to replace him include Jupp Heynckes, Mattias Sammer and Martin Jol. Juergen Klopp is an outside possibility.

Oh, in America, they were whatever to whichever. When I first started going to DCU games I thought I took a wrong turn at Civitavecchia because of all the Roma Totti jerseys I saw.

Never in a million years would you see this in Europe, but I figure you have to represent your affliation with soccer somehow in the U.S.

Not real impressed with Jol. Sammer would be more fun, given the current lineup. I think it will be Heynckes for the safe 'German" think to do...

I got all the mexican jerseys with Omar Bravo and Rafa Marquez playing, but the club teams confused me... Perhaps that is where they played in Mex? Don't know their history...

Heynckes is the favorite. I would like Sammer, Jol is levarage garbage for Bayern, I think. Honestly, I would be fine with Heynckes. Has the experience and Bayern affiliation. Uli always said the worst decision he ever made in his career was firing Jupp Heynckes. I would love Hitzfeld, but he just committed to Switzerland through 2014 World Cup.
