Bruins goalie close to return
For the first time in nearly two weeks, Manny Fernandez joined his teammates for practice. And while Fernandez, who suffered a left knee strain Oct. 30, moved smoothly yesterday and has been cleared to play, he doesn't know whether his injury has fully healed. It's been a forgettable 10 months for Fernandez. On Jan. 20, he sprained his left knee and lost the No. 1 job in Minnesota to Niklas Backstrom. On July 1, Fernandez was traded to Boston, where he was expected to take over the starting job.

Be prepared to ride the bench. Thomas has earned the starting job.

Smell a trade coming up for a quality forward....the B's now have almost 4$5 million cap mony coming up nw that Bergeron is on IR...( I don't feel good at all about his injury and feel bad that it happened)..
They're playing much much better on D and Thomas has stood on his head to keep them in games...they need to improve on goals scored....I hear a deal coming up...either that or Cam laces them up...

yeah, this guy is clearly not half the goalie he looked like before when he works without the trapping, defensive system, clearly. Thomas isn't much good either, but the team seems to be better with him in net than they were with Fernandez

Thomas has been outstanding, but he's had a history of being Jekyl and Hyde. I wouldn't be too hasty in trading Fernandez just yet.

hey bob, i was asking about that the other day. With Bergeron out indefinitely can they use his money towards someone who can play? What happens when Bergeron is ready to skate again? They really need some offense.

Yes, when Patrice went on Injured Reserve, that yealry salary came off thier cap, so they have that money..I think that money and a trade could bring in someone that can put the puck in the net....Kessel stepped in to replace him at center but it weakend his line...
From seeing him on TV the other day, even his agent said he doesn't think bringing him back THIS SEASON is the right thing to do....this was a grade 3 (the worst)....he, after all these weeks (I was there at the game in the 8th row) still has memory losses, fatigue, and he would be at risk to go on the ice too soon...the NHL is reassessing the way they are diagnosing these things and treating them...it starts wiht the refs and goes too the league..they should eliminate hits from behind and suspend the players weeks without pay to enforce it...both my kids play hockey so it drives me up the wall....

RSB,
Last comment today,
When Patrice Bergeron came up he was using a wood stick. That's what he grew up with and became accustomed to. He actually used a wooden stick the first year with the Bruins...then the POWERS THAT BE (read Manufacturing endorsements for the Bruins and Bergeron) convinced him to part with the wooden stick and go to a composite stick....make a long story short...I feel bad for Bergeron with the injury, but after switching to the new Reebok O Stick (the O refers to the fact that it actually has holes in it), he only scored 3 goals this season before he got hurt....juust a side story, but it drives me crazy because hockey players are superstitious and when you force them to change sometimes it might not be a good thing..

How about packaging Glen Murray in a trade, he is less than stellar, maybe another GM can be snowed into thinking he might find life in new surroundings. Oh yeah, and the Boyes trade looks pretty stupid about now

Keep Manny for now. I am still not completely sold on Thomas yet. He has glimpses of greatness but then he flounders and I haven't seen enough of Rask, or even at all yet, to say that he is ready.
