Timberlake to host Vegas tourney

Justin Timberlake, the Grammy Award- winning singer-songwriter and squire to such starlets as Britney Spears, Jessica Biel and Cameron Diaz, now has his own PGA TOUR event. On Monday, the PGA TOUR announced that Timberlake will host its Las Vegas tournament in 2008. The 14th celebrity to have such an honor, he joins a list that includes Frank Sinatra, Bob Hope and Sammy Davis, Jr. The tournament will be called The Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. It has been called the Frys.com Open the past two seasons.

Golf is moving from a country club sport to one that is more accessible....thanks in part to the Tiger phenomenon. I was never interested in golf until I got into my 20's. Creating a lifetime fan by tapping into a younger market is a smart strategy.
