LSU opens with title hopes, questions on offense

08:28 AM ET 03.10 | Based on talent, there's no reason for LSU not to think about a national title. The 11 victories last season marked the fourth time in six seasons in Baton Rouge that the "Mad Hatter" notched double-digit victories. And he did it all despite a horrid offense that ranked 11th in the SEC (341.3 ypg). ... For the program to win its third BCS title since 2003 and second under Miles (2007), the offense must evolve. That is why Miles hired former Louisville and Tulsa coach Steve Kragthorpe, who came aboard after Gary Crowton left to coordinate Maryland's offense. Kragthorpe's top job this spring is to begin to sort out the quarterback situation.

Aren't we all opening that way?

At least most schools know how to manage the game clock....This would be an improvement for Les if he provided evidence of this in the fall.

Anyone else just getting a title and no article?

It seems New Mexico and New Mexico State tend to just open, with questions.

Yep.
Instead of a TMZ thread, the intern has gone to a Playboy mode, figuring we would only look at the picture, and just claim to read the article.

About all the information the reporter gathered they could confirm through a second source....

Article now present.
I guess that means someone has to make token LSU comments before the discussion turns into an OSU thread.

I did at first. Still better than yet another version of 'Mack sez things will be different this season!'

IMO, LUS has the talent on win NCG. The problem is their schedule. IF they go through this undefeated, they will truly be one of the best CFB teams in a while. Non Conference, of Oregon, WVA. Conference games of Arkansas, Alabama, Auburn, Florida....Gee's "Murder's Row".

I wouldn't be surprised if this is the year a 1-loss SEC team is left out of the NCG by an undefeated team from weaker conference w/ no conference chamo (Oklahoma), and an undefeated team from ACC, Big East, or non-BCS.........should be fun to watch IF it happens.

So.... same questions going into last season?

Yup.

So why is this a story, again?

JJ will retain the job. Will he be any better than the last 3 seasons though???

I can't bash his clock management because somehow he still pulls the game out of his arse.

Sometimes he does, sometimes he doesn't. The Ole Miss game a few years ago was hilarious.

Houston Nutt came off the field with a look of "How in the hell did I manage to win that game?"

true. You have to start the year ranked in the top 10 at a minimum. If you can't pull that off then the best you can do is maybe end up in the top 10. Because, you know, its all about the voters.

Unless you're in the SEC.

No way, no how is a 1, and probably a 2 loss SEC team is ranked below an undefeated Big East team.
