08:24 AM ET 03.15 | With Jeff Capel out, Oklahoma AD Joe Castiglione is on the clock. Castiglione should have OU's private jet fueled up and ready to take off at a moment's notice for Milwaukee. Anticipating that Castiglione wouldn't bring Capel back for a sixth season, I've talked to coaches and others in the know about potential replacement candidates. Those conversations over the past few days repeatedly came back to the same person -- Marquette coach Buzz Williams. Sooner fans who take their hoops seriously are praying Castiglione will find a way to beat Texas Tech to the punch and hire Billy Clyde Gillispie. Well, Williams is Gillispie without the baggage.

While at Marquette Buzz win/loss record has gotten worse each year. He tied for 9th place this year. Why is he so hot?

I hear Kelvin Sampson is available.

Good point. Some people think 9th in the Big East is the cat's meow. I don't. We'll see during the tournament. They may prove me wrong.

Billy Gillespie is a better candidate because he knows the conference and is prpbably a better Southern recruiter.

Marquette has several Texas boys on the roster I think. This guy recruits Texas.

Gillespie would be a good fit, except for his interest in drink

I read where Kevin O'Neill wanted the OU job. Gillespie would be a great hire for Texas Tech. He certainly has some baggage but no doubt the guy can coach.

Maybe he has learned his lesson this time? I hope so for him. He is top talent in the coaching field. Maniacal for sure, but a great coach.

How ironic would it be to have BCG and Kevin O'Neill in the same conference. Imagine the post game partying in Lubbock or Norman.

that'd be some funny **** right there.

Looks like they need spell check.

They did spell check it - they showed it to seven OU grads who approved it.
