Irsay: Lockout won't affect Manning relationship

08:00 AM ET 03.16 | Though the lockout clearly has two sides, 32 owners vs. more than 1,800 players, at least one owner, Jim Irsay, insists his friendships with Peyton Manning and Jeff Saturday are not caught in the middle. That quasi-separation, Irsay emphasized Monday, is temporary. Manning and Saturday are "very close friends of mine and this isn't about us against them," Irsay said, adding he occasionally has found himself on opposing sides of a business dispute with close associates. "You have disagreements and there's contention. It's a process, [but] it's not something that's personal." Mediated negotiations between the NFL and NFL Players Association ended Friday when the union broke off talks and filed for decertification.

First post in all 3 threads so far. Triple Crown. This is actually more significant than anything they've "reported" on so far.

Nice to know they can disagree without being disagreeable...a lot of voters and politicians consider that an untenable concept.

I suppose that depends on your religious ideas, but I have trouble believing any deity would banish someone to such a horrible fate.

Didn't he resign from that status?

Jim Irsay is really different from his late father. His father was with stubborn mule head. I remember his father moves when they were in Baltimore. John Elway said that he will pass on Football rather than play for Irsay. He was vey cheap God may rest his sole.

It's all about leverage. The Colts need Peyton more than he needs them or their money anymore. Same with Brees and Brady. If not, the owners would dump these guys today, just like they did with the last NFLPA player rep. ( a certain center with all pro credentials). Blackballed out of the league.....ya could look it up.

A lot of border ine guys are going to get release when it is over. You watch. Owners will get their pound of flesh. They are used to always getting their way.
