Browns not sold on McCoy, after all?

08:01 AM ET 03.16 | Is Mike Holmgren making sense? Despite organizational consensus that Colt McCoy is the Browns' quarterback of the future, Holmgren said Monday that the club hasn't ruled out a quarterback with the sixth pick in next month's NFL draft. In fact, he admitted he's "looking hard" at Auburn quarterback Cam Newton and will study other top quarterbacks in the draft. "It's kind of interesting isn't it?" said Holmgren during his lockout press conference. "We'll see. I would say, don't discount anything. I've been honest with you about my feelings on Colt, but I'm not coaching the team. Pat Shurmur is the coach. We will have conversations of course, but I'll leave that up to the coach, just like I left it up with things last year."

It's amazing how quickly McCoy's stock has fallen.

Colt will have an uphill battle on any team until he can prove himself on a consistent basis. That National Championship loss (injury) really hurt his career.

Considering it's been a while since the Browns had a clue about a qb it's not all that surprising.

Serious question: Teams can't do transactions involving players. But, can they still do draft-pick swaps? Or are we going into a draft where the draft order isn't going to change?

That makes no sense, especially since durability has never been an issue and he won more games (45) than any quarterback in NCAA Division I history. What he needs is time under center.

I just like to say his name.....Colt McCoy! "Hi there, lady's I'M Colt McCoy!" I wonder if that works for him?

Does not hurt to look, and does not hurt to say you might be interested in player X. I assume they are trying to disguise their real interest. If nothing else, looking at players may help to negotiate the draft trade process.

Bringing in another QB is a no-brainer; wasting that first round pick on another QB is just no brains.

They can still trade down, up, and for 2012 picks...just nothing for players.

This is pre-draft smoke. These guys rarely tell the truth about who or what position they are looking to draft.

Exactly they have needs at about every single position except QB. They gotta let McCoy go in as the unquestioned starter and see how he does through a whole season being the man.

The best thing for Colt McCoy carrier is to get out of Cleveland. Who the hell guarantee that a college kid drafted on A[ril 28 will be better than McCoy for Cleveland. McCoy showed some hope late in teh season when they put him in. I don't understand How coaches think? Sorry I understand it now they think they are Little Gods.
