08:30 AM ET 03.16 | What would a prominent NHL gathering be without a Brian Burke headline? Burke took on counterparts Ray Shero of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Pierre Gauthier of the Montreal Canadiens after their respective owners voiced strong criticism of the NHL in recent days. Burke basically told Shero and Gauthier that Penguins owner Mario Lemieux and Canadiens owner Geoff Molson should have kept their opinions in house. In a scrum after the general managers had finished their breakout meetings Tuesday, Burke told the media he had the support of several colleagues with his comments. As you might expect, the answer to Burke's criticism was the owners could say what they wanted to say. "It was typical Brian Burke. It had no impact but it was entertaining," Burke said, poking fun at himself.

Brian's comments about himself were almost right. His tirade had no impact. But it wasn't entertaining. It was just like all his other comments. Ignorant, useless and pitiful.

Maybe I didn't see Mario's entire statement, or maybe I'm just looking at it through Penguin colored glasses, but I don't see where it was a criticism. Mario saw the same problem that a lot of people saw and proposed a way to try to limit it. How is that criticizing or being negative?

I believe BB was talking about Mario's initial statements, not his "proposal"

I dunno, at least in this regard i find myself agreeing with BB. Coming off all butt-hurt when your team gets hammered and then turning it around and saying you want this for the betterment of the league is disingenuous. We're not all lemmings. I can see through that jazz. You wanna impress me with your care for the game, then how bout raising a stink when a team besides your own gets done dirty.

And ... thrilled to have an ear bug in there as well. I'm sure BB's all too happy to keep the Dwarf well informed as to who said what.

The only real flaw in Lemiuex's proposal is that you still have Campbell sympathizing with the goons and could hand out suspensions to get around the fines.
I say, have a panel of 3 and have them each submit a suspension and give that player the average.

Now would be a great time to replace Campbell. Put him in charge of R&D and move Shanny over to the discipline side.

He thinks he still works the League - if TO-ONies still had a real owner, that could've been his ticket out.

Burke was 100% correct. Those two twits should have shut the heck up.
I rarely do talk radio as around here it's 100% Canucks.
But yesterday I was on the road and I heard Bruce Boudreau string together a few "f" bomb free words.
But his "If that were Hal Gill and not Chara, and he was hitting Krejci, nothing happens." was 100% correct as well.

so the fans in Beantown wouldn't be screaming bloody murder? C'mon Hank, you're better than that. Everyone just likes to pretend its not a problem until it happens to one of their boys, and then sound the alarm because YOU KNOW that in the same position as Geoff Molson, Burkie would have been screaming from the rafters for justice to be served.

Sure there, buddy.
If one of the Capitals' prima donnas were to get taken out with a reckless or unecessary hit, Fatso Bruce would be singing a f-bomb song. Bruce and burke would be better off worrying about the security of their jobs than opening their fat mouths to say something dumb or to eat. And I am not bitter that the caps beat my team the other day. (hardy, har).

I doubt it. Have you seen all the similar instances of guys hitting that stanchion or similar ones? Suddenly it's headline news? suddenly everybody is complaining about it and calling for police action?
Come on Foil, you're better than that.....
Boudreau was 100% correct.
