Trojans on verge of big signing

The day before USC played UCLA in February 2006, Tim Floyd flew to Cincinnati to watch O.J. Mayo compete in a high school basketball game before doubling back to guide his Trojans to an upset victory over the Bruins. The USC coach won't have to travel quite as far to keep tabs on the anticipated star of his latest recruiting class. Compton High senior guard DeMar DeRozan could sign a national letter of intent with the Trojans as soon as today, the first day of the early signing period. DeRozan, ranked as the No. 2 overall prospect in the nation by Rivals.com, said Tuesday he was debating whether to sign now or wait until the spring, though he maintained that he would be firmly committed to the Trojans even if he deferred his signing.

NO Politics ALLOWED!!! I get enough of that at other boards. Keep this on sports for the love of Mike Tyson.

USC, how's that ball-hog, mr. bad attitude OJ Mayo working out for you? He put up what... 30 points in his first game and you lost right? Next time, try to recruit a team player. I knwo you California guys are so used ot watching the Kobe-show (formerly known as the Lakers), but Basketball is still a Team sport.

GURU...its's my inalienable RIGHT to meld sports and politics on Fannation.....if you criticize me...it's like your spitting on the flag...or just being kinda pissy about me talkin' politics!

How critical is the word signing for this headline?

Otherwise ya got Trojans on the Verge Big.......

November 14, 2007  02:51 PM ET

Trojans don't last very long- maybe 20 minutes and then they pop. I'll give this kid 1 season and out, and SC will still be the 5th best team in the Pac 10.

The Truth - I did take a shot at our military. I'd do it again. Unlike those whom have been brainwashed, i am able to make choices for myself.

November 14, 2007  09:17 PM ET

Sure would be nice to see USC win national titles in football and basketball in the same year!

November 15, 2007  04:46 AM ET

If OJ and DeRozan play together, Trojans will rule! And we'd beat Mercer too!

BTW rest in peace Louis J Galen

Kobe Bryant is the second best NBA player next to MJ...
Who doesn't like to watch him score!

As for OJ Mayo and SC CB... I think they'll be just fine!

Fight On SC!
