08:01 AM ET 03.18 | Thursday's pro day at Stanford featured all manner of NFL representation, with the majority coming from the nearby Niners. Among the coaches making the short drive up Highway 101 were defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, offensive coordinator Greg Roman, offensive line coach Tim Drevno and running backs coach Tom Rathman, who put Stanford fullback Owen Marecic through cone drills and then spent more than a half hour chatting with Marecic in a corner of the practice field. Marecic is considered the top fullback in the draft and could go as high as the third round. Fangio, Roman and Drevno, of course, coached at Stanford last season. Two 49ers scouts also were on hand Thursday.

Since the owners have locked out the players, the players have decertified their union, and the NFL currently does not exist, how can SF look at possible players?

Getting tired of this picture, too, and of course the Spam.

4 out of 5 dentist recommend Cam Newton. The lone dentist recommends Blaine Gabbert.

Guess they'll have to bring in Bruce Springsteen as a consultant.

This is news. PFW rates him the third best FB in the draft and a round 5/6 pick. And one lousy draft for FB.

They will need two blocking fullbacks who can pick up the blitz and give David Carr that 7 seconds he needs to read the defense and pass the ball.

Actually, it is a good idea for the 49ers to take the kid in the first round. That way they can not mess up taking a QB in the first round again.
Yes. I like it. Of course their GM was the Head of West Coast Scouting when they brought in Smith with that number one pick to be THE QB. So yeah, sure, let him decide again.

When was Tosh named as head coach of the Niner's. Must have missed the news that day.

The choice to pick Smith over Rodgers came down to their OC at the time. Thats right Mike McCarthy who just won the superbowl with Rodgers was the final decision maker in choosing Smith. And Smith had 1 td and 11 ints in his only year in McCarthys offense.
