Kupchak: Bynum -- at his best -- is untouchable

08:09 AM ET 03.18 | Andrew Bynum recently revealed that he's still ailing a bit, but Mitch Kupchak also had some strong words about the talented young Laker. "Certainly if he had played as well as he's playing now for the last three years, teams would realize that, well, the Lakers would never trade him. But he's had stretches where he's played well and stretches where he hasn't, and he's been criticized, and I think general managers look at [those weaker stretches] and think maybe this is an opportunity for me to come in through the back door, let me make a phone call. And I understand that, and don't think that's going to change. But having said all that: when Andrew is healthy, and he plays like he is playing right now, you are hard pressed to look at anybody in this league and say, 'I would trade him for that person.'"

I've always said Bynum is a top five center in the league, the five games a year he's healthy. It's great he's playing so well, especially defensively. Let's hope it continues all the way to ring number 3

Bynum is a walking injury and the laker fans wont really realize until they have to depend on him after Kobe

"when Andrew is healthy" are the words that matter in this story. At his best he is good. Fortunatly, for every other team, he is never healthy. The Lakers are stuck with him for better or for worse. He's made a lot of money rehabbing all his injuries, and will continue to do so when he gets hurt again next week.

He's still younger than Camby so there's hope. Even though I'm a Laker hater I do agree with the assesment of him being the most valuable player when healthy... there's no center like him in the league. All the other centers lack something... he doesn't. I don't like him but I gotta give the Lakers props for making somethng good out of him.
Curry was is more athletic and talented that him but Knicks and Bulls didn't do a good job of nurturing him so you gotta love Bynum for not wasting the little talent and strength he has

Bynum lacks the competitive edge other great bigs have, he is fortunate enough to be in the fold at the Lakers who are near 25 mil over the salary cap. It is easier to hide.

Well Luv,
When Bynum is healthy and playing to his capacity the Lakers are unbeatable. Plain and simple. Ask the Spurs. LOL
I understand your argument, that's why it's so hard to judge this kid. He can be heaven, he can be hell at times.

One think I learned over the years is that you should not wish bad things on others, they usually come around to bite you in the ****. Just saying....
