In an interview this week with the AJC's Terence Moore, Georgia's former Heisman Trophy winner Herschel Walker essentially challenged the 62-year-old Steve Spurrier to a fight. "How much guts do you have?" Walker said. "Step in a ring with me, and then we'll see." When informed Wednesday morning of the comments, Spurrier bristled. "No, I haven't seen it. One way or another, it doesn't bother me, faze me or have one thing to do with me," Spurrier said. "I don't even know why you're asking me. ... I have no comment one way or another about that. How's that?" After the team's practice Wednesday, he was a little more jovial about Walker. He was asked by a reporter if he had boxing gloves. And if he thought he could take Walker, 45.

Good for Walker ...its about time somebody put this IDIOT in his place!!!!

November 15, 2007  08:31 AM ET

Yeah, good for Walker.

Challenging a 62 year old man to a fight.

Seems fair, right?

November 15, 2007  08:38 AM ET

I love Walker and I can't stand Spurrier, but I think that it makes anyone look like an idiot when they challenge someone else to a fight.

It is funny though!!

November 15, 2007  08:40 AM ET

Where did this come from???

November 15, 2007  08:49 AM ET

Ahhh yes......the idol of every low-life in Georgia acting.....well.....like a lowlife.

Fight a 62 year old man....stay classy Hershel!!!

Here Georgia fans, let me put it to you in Georgia/Jeff Foxworthy speak:

"When the best football to ever grace your poor excuse for a program has reverted to fighting old men because his alma mater cant bring home a national championship, you might be a redneck"

NCAA smackdown!

November 15, 2007  08:51 AM ET

Walker's a dumba**. Mr USFL punk. HERschel wants to defend the bulldogs now... where has he been all the years since he left Georgia. HERschel who.....

November 15, 2007  09:02 AM ET

Gotta agree with Lucky26, I HATE Spurrier, but this does make Walker look kind of ignorant. Really, though, who among us actually does NOT want to punch Spurrier. This is a tough one...

November 15, 2007  09:05 AM ET

Personal feeling about Walker or Spurrier aside.....

Walker sounds like a fool on this one

November 15, 2007  09:06 AM ET

Spurrier's point: Act like you've scored a touchdown before!!!!

November 15, 2007  09:12 AM ET

If you think Herschel is serious about fighting Spurrier, then your a bigger idiot than Masterof the Obvious. I wonder what classy program he cheers for.

Obviously, Herschel's joking around. If you've ever heard speak, thats just his personality. Spurrier obviously knew it was a joke.

Lighten up everybody, the media is always trying to make news.

November 15, 2007  09:12 AM ET

Hershel, don't do it.....Spurrier probably fights dirty. LOL

November 15, 2007  09:19 AM ET

Typical Spurrier, the biggest CRYBABY in college, check that, all of football! Herschel called him out for being a punk!

November 15, 2007  09:20 AM ET

Who's Hershey Walker?

November 15, 2007  09:21 AM ET

I think Spurrier can take him by using the ole "your shoe laces are untied" trick...then POW!...right in the nose..

November 15, 2007  09:29 AM ET

or Spurrier can just throw his visor at Hershel.....he seems to be real good at that. :-)

November 15, 2007  10:00 AM ET

Fornacis, OH, you know exactly who Hershal Walker is... Everyone on here trashing him was begging to get a sniff of his jockstrap when he was terrorizing defenses! Let's not get amnesia ok fellas...

November 15, 2007  10:11 AM ET

oh...that guy..

Welp,

November 15, 2007  10:23 AM ET

Yeah, well all those who want to punch Stever Spurrier in the face have picked their time very well. At 62, you might just be able to get a shot it. Ten years ago, at 52, he'd have almost certainly kicked your teeth in. You all seem to forget he won the Heisman too, is a scratch golfer, dead eye with darts, and a killer pool player. You can hate him all you want, the guy is one of those freak of nature athletes and I'm sure he can still throw a punch. Rant all you want and be glad his contract keeps him off your front porch.

Spurrier is a crybaby. Maybe he can defend himself with his visor throwing techniques.
