08:09 AM ET 03.22 | The Knicks and Celtics went a few rounds in New York Monday night in a defensive battle that saw blood streaming from both sides of a 96-86 Celtics win. Boston (50-19) didn't come away unscathed, with Ray Allen receiving seven stitches after getting sliced up by Jared Jeffries' elbow. "It was a bloodbath," Boston coach Doc Rivers said. In the night's final turning point, Rondo's elbow crashed into Anthony's face at midcourt as he moved to intercept the inbounds pass, sending Melo to the floor as blood trickled from his eye. ... The Knicks had distinguished themselves for three quarters, building a 15-point lead early in the second half before they gave it away. "We just got to a point where I thought we panicked," coach Mike D'Antoni said.

LOL....But they got their savior in Melo....

Hey DA, did the panic come on defense? I mean the Celtics pretty much had a 25 point swing....

Something tells me the playoffs are gonna' get nasty. This season is simply a consolation prize for the Knicks. They'll get it together by next season, but they'll make enough of a statement in the playoffs (at least in the first round if no further).

QUOTE(#5):

This was a typical Boston game. They played normal ball until the 4th quarter and then they turned their defense loose and choked the life out of the Knicks offense. This is what sets Boston apart from most other teams.

And if it ain't broke... have an E&J.
But seriously, yup.

This is not going to change because the Knicks two stars are not leaders and doesnt play any defense.

March 22, 2011  08:31 AM ET

Cant wait for the playoff when these 2 team match up!

March 22, 2011  08:31 AM ET

Wait let me guess it was DAs fault bc they didnt play defense?

Mike D., don't rip your players in the NY press bro. You are making it tough for your ballers to focus on the court when they're wondering what you are going to say next. Keep in mind that Chris Paul is reading the NYC headlines.

The top teams in the league are also top defensive teams or at least have shown they can be. It's not an accident.

You didnt watch that game......the celts played AWFUL in the first half, were flatThe knicks played a real nice first half and fell apart late, like mediocre teams do

Exactly...

... NY let it slip away.

Still don't think Boston is ready for a title run with Kristic instead of Perkins.
