08:27 AM ET 03.22 | Heeee's baaaack. There was a stretch this month when Red Wings forward Mike Modano wondered if he could continue playing, if he could get to a point where he again felt he could make an impact. That doubt has dissipated, pushed out as his legs have pushed forward. Modano scored the tying goal in Monday night's 5-4 shoot-out loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins at Joe Louis Arena, his first goal since he returned Feb. 26 from a devastating injury. ... Modano's improvement is more vital as the Wings are missing Pavel Datsyuk (lower body), Johan Franzen (groin) and Jiri Hudler (neck, shoulder), all of whom are day-to-day.

Somehow, I doubt that the Red Wings rely on Modano for much, even with all the injured players they have.

The wife's fun at the annual picnic.

I was always a Modano fan, I thought he looked pretty impressive last night. Johnson made some pretty sick saves on him, but he easily could have had a couple more. As much as I hate to admit it, I will be quietly rooting for the Wings in the west this year.

Blasphemy! Turn yourself in now and we promise that no one will get hurt. LOL.

That was quite a game last night. Good old fashioned end to end hockey. Detroit played the way they needed to since this the Pens second game in two nights. They wore the Pens down in the third period, unfortunately Howard wasn't at his best. The Wings had the Pens on the ropes, but couldn't put them away.

You're right. They didn't sign him for that purpose. He's a good weapon to have in your arsenal. And, he'll prove them right during the playoffs ... if (BIG "if") he can stay healthy.

Yeah yeah I know. Problem is most of my family is from Detroit and still lives there, so we have a nice rivalry going. I like watching the Pens take them down. Im all for another rematch. That was a great game last night, one of the best of the season. But I think that was the last time the Pens and Wings will play each other this season. If they make it to teh 2nd round I think all thigns considered it will be a successful season.

Hopefully Modano can stay healthy. He might be running on fumes but he still is fun to watch.

Hey, everybody! Take a moment and report these spamming roaches to the interns. This is ridiculous. They're spawning everywhere this morning!

When the skills erode, skaters can still hang around and extend careers.

I thought his goal last night was very nice.

Epic collapse pre playoffs by the Pens last night-afterwards it still felt like the Wings won because of that come back.

To bad the Pens did not have my favorite player ever ( Gary Roberts ) last night hey Hank ? Things would have been much different with ole GR in the line up !

A true tie and classic example of a shoot out winner that deserved a tie not a win. A well played hockey tie never bothered me a bit.Of course with Gary Roberts i didn't watch anything much but wins...........

Hey, the first four goals count as much as the last four goals. Pens were just tired from having played the day before and the high paced first two periods.

March 22, 2011  11:32 AM ET

Lots of firepower, but the 'D' has been (shaky?)suspect, and Howard is just not the man. Osgood coming back will make or break this mediocre slide up one game, horrible the next.

I watched right up to end of OT, then moved away to watch Deadwood re-runs.

What a great friggin' show that was.... Made me all mistyeyed to see Big Al Swearingen the cokesacker swear a blue streak....

You must have missed the games he played when he visited that town to the north of you :-)

Selective memory is a powerful tool my Friend . I have a faint recollection of some past Oiler teams far to vague to remember if they were any good at all..................
