08:03 AM ET 03.24 | The punchlines are easy when it comes to Dez Bryant's recent return to the news cycle, but should the Cowboys be concerned? Mostly, his character comes into question, fair or not. He's a lightning rod anyway, not because of any past serious incidents on a police blotter, because there aren't any. Many, however, still have Dez on the tick-tick-tick watch. The Cowboys' time bomb. Bryant's adviser, David Wells of Dallas, said Wednesday, "I told Dez this the other today: I don't worry about him during the football season. It's now, with no football, that I worry. The smallest thing can become blown up, news-wise." Plus, of course, Valley Ranch is also shut down because the NFL is shut down. As Wells added, there's no football focal point at the moment for Bryant.

A lot of people worry about Dez without football, but he'll be fine if he can stay out of trouble.

True statement, could be said for about 20% of the players in the NFL. but idol hands......

Yeah, this sudden exposure sure caught Dez with his pants down.

When players get bored, be prepared for trouble.

Advisor = babysitter.

He can go workout with the high school kids and show them how NOT to wear your pants.

I believe that's called a "life coach." Morning, Tx!

March 24, 2011  08:17 AM ET

He was doing the "Pants on the ground" dance!

Ol' Dez is really getting undressed in the media.

This dude will be out of the league before he reaches his potential. Next storyline will be him acting like Pacman in a Dallas strip club. Character matters in the league, JJ. You know better.

Morning! that's the technical term but a babysitter is still that.

Like he'd be focused on football anyway? He's a Cowboy.

March 24, 2011  08:30 AM ET

Lots of talent could be wasted with a bad decision.

Hopefully, he'll grow up.

March 24, 2011  08:32 AM ET

Would Dez get in trouble off the field? Well, he is a Cowboy so it's expected he will at some point!

March 24, 2011  08:35 AM ET

I hate the cowboys - But I've never seen a WR turn into the type of beast this guy does once he gets the ball in his hands.

Really? Like no other team has players with issues?

He's Roy Williams with talent.

If he can touch the ball he will catch it. So unlike other receivers who tend to have the ball clank right off.

Dez should head down to Cabo with his QB and get out of the spotlight.
