Cardinals brass add Gabbert to draft mix

08:04 AM ET 03.24 | Blaine Gabbert certainly didn't do much to hurt his chances during his pro day, and teams have taken notice. There has been much talk about who the Cards are going to work out privately leading into the draft. One guy was Gabbert. On the way back from the league meetings in New Orleans, a group of Cardinals -- owner Bill Bidwill, president Michael Bidwill, general manager Rod Graves, coach Ken Whisenhunt and director of player personnel Steve Keim -- stopped in Missouri to have dinner with Gabbert Tuesday night and then worked him out Wednesday morning. Does it mean Gabbert's the guy at No. 5? Of course not. I'd guess this isn't the only workout planned for the top-echelon players. But clearly, Gabbert is in the mix for consideration.

Drafting Gabbert would be a smart move for the Cards.

Makes sense but working for Bidwell....YIKES! good luck Blaine.

The Cards might draft a QB? They must've hired a top-notch consultant to help them figure that one out. The surprises just keep on comin'.

This could get interesting.

when it comes to the Cardinals...about as interesting as watching your grass grow in the dead of winter.

Poor Blaine Gabbert. Another guy who will never realize his potential because he's stuck with an inept, underperforming team that really doesn't try or even care.

There are teams that are always good year in and year out, but it wouldn't be the NFL if there weren't teams that don't even try, the Cardinals are one of those teams.

More in it for the money than the product on the field, they are among many teams vying for the LA Clippers or Pittsburgh Pirates of the NFL label.

I think the most interesting thing about the Cardinals is their stadium. The whole field is on wheels, so they roll it outisde during the week to get sunshine. One of the most important jobs on the Cardinals' staff is the guy who watches the grass grow. In the dead of winter.

Lawn rhymes with Yawn. Explains everything about this team.

Excellent observations!

Their stadium is pretty cool, it's just sad that that's all they have going for them.

March 24, 2011  08:31 AM ET

They should just stop it with these headlines.

If the Cardinals really had any brass we wouldn't need to bash them so much.
