Ewing's MVP pick isn't Derrick Rose

08:09 AM ET 03.24 | An NBA legend says there are blind spots in Dwight Howard's game, but Patrick Ewing has his back. Howard posts up, shoots 60 percent from the field, blocks 2.43 shots per game, pulls down 14.3 rebounds. Practically perfect, except for occasional problems -- aside from Wednesday night -- at the foul line. "The MVP of the league," said Ewing, the last dominant center around here and an Orlando assistant. "Everybody's talking about Derrick Rose, but they need to start putting Dwight there, too. Without him, who knows where we'd be?" Sitting courtside, Ewing had some career advice for Howard: "Keep his butt right in Orlando."

I doubt it, I dont think Byron Scott would give any of his guys MVP recommendation lol. Howard is playing like a beast this season and leading his team in contention.

Ok...And when Dirk missed almost 10 games then Mavs looked like the Cavs....

I'm not really impressed with his stat line. His shots are dunks, so go figure w/the 60%, 2.43 blocks per game is sub-par considering his height advantage and his natural athleticism. Additionally, I don't care for his carefree attitude, big men are supposed to be tightfisted and mean(ready to fight)! All is sad considering he won't reach full potential, and I hope Hakeem Olajuwon doesn't waste another second with this cat.

Howard makes his presence known on both ends of the court. Even when he isn't shooting as much, you are aware of him. Dirk is a star but not MVP. IMO Doens't seem like a leader on that team.

There should not be any debate about 2010-11 MVP.
A simple look at the record difference between the 2009-10 and 2010-11 Cavs tell you the whole story: Lebron is head and shoulder above the competition.
Rose can settle for MIP award for now.
As for Howard, when he starts making free-throws in the clutch then consider him.
An MVP does not sit on the bench in the last minutes of the 4th quarter because fouling him is getting the back ball w/o giving points.

Its not going to happen this year. Before anything, Melo needs to start taking pride on defense and put more effort. I dont think Amare is that bad of a defender away from the ball. He gives you want he can give you but with Melo there isnt any excuse with the amount of money he is making.

That makes no sense. Tell what Lebron is doing in Miami with that team that makes him the MVP. NOt saying he isn't but you half to do more then point out how bad the Cavs are this yr.

M.V.P means most valuable player on their current team. Lebron is not the most valuable player on Miami's team. Rose is the most valuable player on the Bulls roster, he has been winning games with both Noah and Boozer out with injuries. Lebron has Wade who can also carry a team to the playoffs. Not even close between Rose and Lebron, oranges and apples.
