Lockout could keep Doc in Boston

08:06 AM ET 03.24 | Celtics fans may have one reason to root for a lockout. A delay in the start of the season might actually work to the team's advantage in retaining a prized free agent -- head coach Doc Rivers. Rivers, whose contract expires at the end of this season, has made no secret about wanting to spend more time with his family. If there is a lockout and the season is delayed, that may very well be enough to allow Rivers to spend additional time with his family, and still return as the Celtics' head coach. Danny Ainge, Boston's president of basketball operations, has had multiple talks with Rivers throughout this season about re-signing with the C's. Rivers has been consistent, Ainge said, in wanting to put off his contract situation until the season is over. ... "Doc knows how I feel," said Ainge. "I'm doing all I can to keep Doc around for as long as possible."

I figured if there was a lockout a few of those players might not come back for much longer...Im not sure about the Rondo/Big Baby led C's though....

all of the big three will be back even if there is a lock out. I think each of them has 2 yrs left in the tank.

They will have to compete with Chicago, and Miami to get there but they still have a good chance.

i will agree this is there best chance. That just becuase Miami has a chance to become a powerhouse. Chicago is what it is. A younger version of boston on defense, but they don't have all the options on Offense.

Man I thought the Knicks should have got rid of Mike last season and made a really strong run at Scott....You know who i thik might be a pretty good coach but i dont know if they have any desire to be one is Greg Anthony....I listen to him speak and I think he always has a good idea on both ends of the court...

What's up Doc? The C's are slipping into the playoffs. You need to get Shaq back into uniform. Rasheed isn't walking through the tunnel in the Garden.

Greg Anthony might be a stretch, but I always thought John Starks was waiting in the wings for such an opportunity.

finally something we can agree on. Greg as a tough nose PG could make a great coach.

Doc will stay in Boston until the tires fall off. He has control and has a good team around him that buys into what he's selling.
I'd like to see if Bruce Bowen has what it takes to be a coach in the NBA.
