Sparano wants a new game-breaker ... at RB

08:05 AM ET 03.24 | Despite owner Steve Ross' hopes for an explosive offense, Tony Sparano says the Dolphins will remain a run-first offense under his watch. "We're going to continue to run the football because that's my nature. It might not be popular with everybody, but that's what I like to do." ... While the approach won't change it's likely the tailbacks carrying the football will because Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams are free agents, and the Dolphins haven't been aggressive about retaining either. Sparano hopes to find a runner who has breakaway speed and the type of ability to take a dump-off pass the distance. Sparano used what Detroit's Jahvid Best did against the Dolphins, turning a short pass into a 53-yard touchdown in last year's 34-27 loss, as a prime example of what he wants.

I wonder if there are any gamebreakers in this draft at RB.

March 24, 2011  08:10 AM ET

You would think he would want a quarterback first!!!

March 24, 2011  08:12 AM ET

Translation: We didn't suck enough last year to earn a really high draft pick, so we're not going to get a decent quarterback in the draft. We don't have squat that we can trade for Kolb or Palmer, either.

With no threat of stretching the field, that running attack isn't going very far. You'd think Sparano might catch on to that by now.

Let Ricky go, pick someone else up. but first Get a Damn Q.B. .

Lots of teams looking for QBs this year, I guess they still think that they're in the Palmer sweepstakes, that's why they're looking at RBs.

What free agents fitting this description are available?

Palmer would be a good fit for them.

Who should that scare more: Palmer or the 'Phins?

Ingram will be the first RB to go in the draft IMO.

He'd look good behind Brady.

Playing in the East has really got to make them wonder if QB, RB and Def are all not needed. I forgot WR. They need alot so why can't they just say we need to start over?

March 24, 2011  08:32 AM ET

I wouldn't mind seeing Ricky Williams in a Redskins uni....

March 24, 2011  08:34 AM ET

OK, here's the plan:

1. Do NOT draft a quarterback
2. Stick with Chad Henne
3. Go 1 and 11 in the lockout-shortened season
4. Draft Andrew Luck in 2012

this team needs an emema...

The sky is falling! The sky is falling!

Not only do we have a Henne/Penny thread, we've got a Foxy Loxy thread, too.
