Rams not giving Bradford a QB coach

08:04 AM ET 03.25 | Sam Bradford is working out on his own in Oklahoma during the lockout, and when he returns to the Rams, he'll remain somewhat on his own. Coach Steve Spagnuolo confirmed what had become increasingly obviously with each passing week during the offseason. Namely, that the St. Louis Rams will not hire a quarterbacks coach. Which means Josh McDaniels will serve the dual role of offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the Rams in 2011. "I think that's a safe statement," Spagnuolo said. "We're going to head that way, at least this year. And I think it's a good thing. Josh has done it that way before." ... Spagnuolo has a defensive background, so to a large degree Bradford will have only one voice in his ear in McDaniels. "The first time I got with (Sam). I said, 'You're lucky Sam. You don't have to worry about the head coach knowing anything about the quarterback,'" Spagnuolo joked.

MCD as QB coach a O Coordinator should work just fine for Bradford.

This is true, teams would be wise to stay away from him when looking for HC candidates.

What an odd headline. Makes it sound like the Rams are refusing a request from Bradford. This is actually a good news story. The move will maximize the values of both McD and Bradford for the Rams.

Quite a few really. Chris Palmer, now the OC for the Titans was a QB coach only for a few teams. Did great.

Down the road, McD could be a great head coach. Denver put him in that position too early in his career, and then let him operate as both the GM and the HC. He was a disaster, and it might take years for Denver to recover, but the Broncos really need to shoulder a lot of the blame for that.

Belichick was awful in cleveland his first job. He got another chance, learned from his mistakes and the rest is history.
It is not like Shanahan was doing great there his last three years.
