08:38 AM ET 03.28 | Sidney Crosby can dazzle, and it appears he's back to doing so for those who know him best. A teammate marveled at his timing during individual on-ice workouts. An assistant coach noted the confidence with which he carried himself in the dressing room. A member of management mentioned the return of a familiar steely focus to his eyes. All that remains is Crosby slipping on a Penguins game jersey. That doesn't appear to be far off, barring an unexpected setback in his recovery from a concussion that has kept him sidelined since Jan. 5. "There's a good feeling around here," Penguins winger Pascal Dupuis said. Those associated with the Penguins are expecting to hear "Crosby is cleared" sometime soon from a team physician.

The Pens, especialy with Fleury playing lights out, are holding their own ...
I think everyone has agreed that rushing Crosby back would be the worst thing that could happen.

I read this weekend that Marc Savard is now having memory problems from the concussions ... yes, 2 totally different players, and medical situations - but my point is Savard will likely have to retire, and IMO he rushed back after the Cooke hit, to try to help the B's in the playoffs, and may have contributed to his post-concussion syndrome. I really hope the Pens do not make that same mistake.

Apparently they can't "find" a picture of Crosby doing anything different on the ice in the archives. Something like ... scoring a goal maybe? He didn't do enough of that, you see.

Or .... Maybe they just think that Crosby is the fighting goon and Cooke is the finesse player?

I agree... bringing him back this year may be a mistake. I'd hate to see him take another shot and hurt his future chances. Pens should look long term here....not short term.

I agree as well, but I also wonder how much of this is management salesmanship?

Looks like they're trying to sell "Shock & Awe." Who did they hire as their and marketing agent? Donald Rumsfeld?

You have to wonder sometimes. They are playing great, 9-2-2 with four straight shoot out wins, but they need more goal production. They only scored one goal in the last two games. Granted they won both games, but you can't count on that in the long run. If he's healthy, I'd love to see him back in the lineup as long as everyone doesn't just quit and watch him play.

Crosby is a very competitive Guy - if he is healthy for playoffs he will be a very hard guy to convince to sit.

March 28, 2011  09:30 AM ET

Good to hear he's soon back. The off-putting to hear just how much the city of Pittsburgh seems to crush on him. That article was more love-fest than informative.

March 28, 2011  09:30 AM ET

I hope he is completely recovered and will be back soon. Like everyone else who has posted thus far, I hope the Pens are extremely cautious to make absolutely certain he's 100%. They're playing very well without him now and I shudder to think about another hit hit coming.

'all clear' expected

Does this mean we'll see DWI and LGP again?

I remember when this happened with Mike Richter, and Richter did eventually realise what the deal was. Here's hoping Sid doesn't ket competetive nature get in the way...and that he isn't hurt as badlt

We can only hope. I miss their passionate defense of their star player. And, truth be told, I miss pissing them off on occasion.

Yeah Richter came back too soon and what ended his career was when he got grazed by a skate in the helmet while on his back in the crease. It didn't even look like anything. Cindy probably should take his time getting back. At least wait until the first round is over, Cooke can carry them until then... oh wait...

Lack of scoring is a concern. Playoffs don't have shootouts.
