Benson prefers Grossman at QB

No player in the Bears locker room, outside of wide receiver Bernard Berrian, might benefit more from Rex Grossman's return than Cedric Benson. That could explain why the running back was so cheery Thursday as he talked about his quarterback. "Positive vibes having him back there," Benson said. "He's the guy we started the show with, and he does bring a different feel to the game than Brian [Griese]. So it will be good to see what that provides for us."

"it will be good to see what that provides for us."....my guess is interceptions, though I would love to see him have a huge comeback.

November 16, 2007  07:44 AM ET

"it will be good to see what that provides for us." Benson is short-bus slow, hasn't he already figured out what Train-Rex brings to the table? Who cares what Bust-on thinks? Why am I typing this?

November 16, 2007  08:38 AM ET

Shut up and run the bal ... you friggin Rashan Salaam starter kit.

November 16, 2007  08:51 AM ET

most bears and fans would prefer someone other than benson at rb..

November 16, 2007  09:20 AM ET

Benson needs to shut up and start remembering how to run with a football or he will be watching his buddy Rex and Ricky Williams from a TV for the rest of his life

November 16, 2007  09:26 AM ET

One bust prefers to play with another? Wow. Birds of a feather, I guess...

November 16, 2007  09:30 AM ET

That's right Benson you idiot...it must be Griese's fault you suck, just like it was Rex's fault before

November 16, 2007  09:33 AM ET

You're the man Rex...... until you screw up again.

November 16, 2007  09:34 AM ET

Well, now that Cedric's pronounced from his lofty throne of football excellence and achievement, we can all rest well. Thanks, Cedric, we needed your completely useless two cents on this. JUST DO YOUR JOB OF RUNNING THE BALL AND SHUT UP!!!

November 16, 2007  10:03 AM ET

The fact is, Griese's has not had the respect of his teaemmates wherever he's been. Cedric still should've kept his mouth shut.

November 16, 2007  10:05 AM ET

This is pretty funny. I can't believe this no talent A** Clown said that.

Dear Ced':

When you are run out of Chicago because your sorry a** averaged just over 3 yards per carry in your career, please be sure to thank Rex Grossman for all that he was able to do for you.

November 16, 2007  10:06 AM ET

Benson ain't no dummy. He knows where the critisism is directed when Rex is playing, and where it is directed when he's not.

November 16, 2007  10:14 AM ET

I guess it feels good not to be the suckiest man on the field.

November 16, 2007  10:38 AM ET

This was all just part of Benson's master plan. He intentionally did not block the blitzing linebacker so that Griese would go down. That way everyone will focus on Rex dropping snaps and throwing interceptions. Nahh. Just kidding. This guy cannot run, catch, or pick up a blitz and block. Although I did see him make a tackle once on a Grossman interception return. That was the fastest that I have ever seen him run.

November 16, 2007  10:43 AM ET

One other thing. I know that the bears do not make it to the red zone very often, but watch benson when they do. He tends to actually TRY when they are near the goal line. The guy actually needs to see the endzone in order to try. At midfield, it's just run a couple yards and fall down. What really sucks is that if he shed 10 or 15 lbs and actually showed some effort, I think he would be a good back. It's all on his shoulders to do that though.

November 16, 2007  10:48 AM ET

Benson = BUST

November 16, 2007  10:50 AM ET

Yes now that Grossman's back ...Cedric's yards per carry will skyrocket from 3.03 to 3.031 and he will carry the Bears to the Super Bowl. Sometimes I have to question Lovie's wisdom to keep this joker around.

November 16, 2007  11:02 AM ET

Benson needs to concentrate on his job, not the quarterback's.

November 16, 2007  11:02 AM ET

It's not Lovie's call. Benson is Angelo's baby...

November 16, 2007  11:02 AM ET

"Benson ain't no dummy." What he ain't is a decent running back. Until he produces, he should "dummy" up. (Have you seen this guy running? It's like he runs to the tackle.)
