No German wanted to go. As long as he's not the next Manuel Aluminum, they should be ok.

Also, Portuguese media is reporting that Bayern and Benfica were finally able to come to a deal for Fabio Coentrao at 25 million euro. Considering he's the left back they had wanted earlier, I expect Lahm to stay on the right side now.

So, all three of the "special" games have been announced for DC United season ticket holders:
DCU v. Ajax
DCU v. Everton

I don't think it means it can't happen. The primary problem with announcing it know is that Bayern are in a transition with Jupp Heynckes first taking over the squad on July 1.

Nest step would be to stop going to the Middle east for pre-season.

On De Gea, if he moves, I think it would be unfortunate for La Liga.

Possibly. I think when they came to America last they still jetted off somewhere else for camp afterward. Might have been Spain instead of Middle East, don't remember.

We just had one of ours announced: Man U v. Fire at Soldier Field on July 23rd, 7:00 PM... Most likely TV deal already done for FSC or ESPN as well.
No offense meant at all to Man U, but for now- I am kind of "meh" about this.
From talking with the Fire's President, Julian Posada, about a month ago and club owner Andrew Hauptman on Saturday in Section 8 (the dude brought his 6 and 8 year old daughters into Section 8 during a smoke bomb because they were begging him to see it in-person), massive clubs like Barcas, Man Us and the like dictate absolute everything in the "negotiations" and MLS clubs and the league as a whole end up sinking large chunks of money into something that is guarenteed to be an immediate loss.
They do it in order to grow the brand and use it as "advertising" but very little marketing research has been done on these types of endeavors to determine whether the cost of these events turns into eventual revenues for the MLS clubs...
Last year we had the Sister Cities Tournament (for some reason, Chicago has about 90 "Sister" cities throughout the world) which was a great showcase, but for some reason Fire fans didn't show up en masse. Attendance figures were low considering there was some good talent on display.
It was, however, not something that was a massive investment in "advertising" and therefore I think the Fire got some good out of it (despite playing like dog shti and losing both of their matches).
I just wonder if MLS is leveraging itself the right way to capitalize on these types of events.
The numbers of people that come out for Man U and Barca that never watch MLS after that are probably a lot more than those that do end up becoming fans of the league.
What do you all think?
I know that Bayern would jump in a heart beat to see Bayern play in DC, but that wouldn't change his mind on checking out a DC United v. San Jose Earthquakes match later in the year...

Dam dam dam. DeGea to ManUtd? Ferguson saw the light and decided to spring for the better keeper. Excellent! DeGea is 5 years younger than Neur. He has many more saves on the season.
