Bonds' trainer released from prison

For much of the past year and a half, Greg Anderson sat in a prison 40 miles east of San Francisco for refusing to testify against the friend he had helped break two of baseball's most hallowed records. Anderson had been called numerous times to appear before a federal grand jury hearing evidence about whether Barry Bonds, whom he had trained since 1999, had perjured himself when he testified that he never knowingly used performance-enhancing substances. Each time Anderson was asked about the substances he provided Bonds, he would not answer prosecutors' questions. But when the federal government indicted Bonds yesterday on charges of obstruction of justice and perjury, Anderson was freed from the Federal Correctional Institution in Dublin, Calif.

wonder what barry was paying anderson. and now that barry is indicted, IF he'll pay anderson..

November 16, 2007  07:08 AM ET

Greg Anderson will be back in jail. The Feds will question him again. He will not answer questions. You have to wonder how much Bonds payed him to keep quiet.

Looks like the baseball going to the HOF will have an *, a @ and a ###. That was some potent flax seed rub.

November 16, 2007  07:26 AM ET

Don't get too comfy Greg, you'll be back there again.Bonds must be payin you a fortune.

I'm sure all you people are just happier than a fly on **** that they are persecuting this black man. Why are they targeting him when there were hundreds of other players also taking steroids?? Is it because he's black?? I don't see any of them going after Mark McGuire.

This is absolutely some serious BULLSH!T!!! They want to indict him for LYING??? Don't they have more important things to do with their time?? Like FIGHT CRIME???

November 16, 2007  07:36 AM ET

I wonder if he has a clause in his contract with Barry that provides an extra bonus every time he gets sodomized in the shower.....

November 16, 2007  07:36 AM ET

McGuire wasn't an**** to everybody around him.

November 16, 2007  07:39 AM ET

Lying to a grand jury is a big deal buddy J. Man. If he took roids, he should have just admitted it and it would have saved him a huge headache.

November 16, 2007  08:28 AM ET

Bonds is far too arrogant, and stupid, to think that he would ever be caught. At_Home@Wrigley is right. He should have just admitted that he's a lying, cheating fraud who got busted.

November 16, 2007  09:47 AM ET

Anderson is homeless, or at least was homeless at one point. I am not sure if anyone has paid him anything.
When B*nds was asked about that, he said that not too many black people are rich in America and so he doesn't need to pay anyone.... just some B.S. along those lines.
I can't wait till this schmuck (Anderson) talks for a plea deal. Only then would B*nds visit the big house.

November 16, 2007  10:01 AM ET

Only a racist would think he's being persecuted because he is black.

November 16, 2007  10:10 AM ET

B*nds is not a victim, he is the perpatrator.
Sin, spin, spin, spin, spin.

What Da Bloodclott!! | 11/16/07

No just sad, what a waste of a talent and a career.
Steroids are illegal without a doctors prescription.
Lying to a federal grand jury is illegal.
Obstruction of justice is illegal.
Barry had a HOF career before taking steroids.
McGuire wasn't voted into the HOF based upon suspicions of his taking steroids, never failed a test, never was indicted.
The BBWAA made their statement.
It's not about race.

November 16, 2007  11:18 AM ET

I hope he got paid well, because his career as a trainer for professional athletes is shot. I doubt he can find any client.

November 16, 2007  11:22 AM ET

Strange...GREG looks less bulky...why is that?

November 16, 2007  11:38 AM ET

yeah, this guy has that look on his face...gosh, how will I get my money now??

Why do you think McGwire dissappeard??? He saw the writing on the wall once that Andro bottle was discovered.

I'm certain that he knew before that. I bet that the bottle was placed and he could focus on andro and not streroids. he stopped taking all together, the body breaks down and he's out of the league and public in 2 years....

smart move if you ask me. everyone is clamoring for him, but he stays away b/c I think he had a clue where this would end up, especially with guys like Bonds and Canseco in the mix.

I still say that one of these guys could come forward and do some good. Create a real foundation to help troubled kids. Tour the country and speak - tell the story.....be a better influence.

November 16, 2007  11:53 AM ET

Anderson's one of the few guys that comes OUT of prison leaner than when he went in.......

November 16, 2007  12:02 PM ET

Yikes! Who's behind the wheel in that pic?

November 16, 2007  12:13 PM ET

I think that's Kurt Warner's wife!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
