09:23 AM ET 04.03 | Some people think Jered Weaver ends the year with the Yankees. The guess here is that he and the Angels' other top starters, Ervin Santana and Dan Haren, are good enough to keep Mike Scioscia's team in the running all season.

This just in... Bob Gibson is being asked to come out of retirement to anchor the Yankee rotation. Film at 11.

He is under contract through 2012. At $6-$8 million ( depending arbitration) he is a bargain and they will not move him.
Next year if they cannot extend his contract? sure. Now? Nope.

"Some people think"....
What the he## is that for an opening statement? Some people think the world is flat.

April 3, 2011  10:11 AM ET

Why in the world would the Angels trade this guy? Are they turning into the Kansas City Royals? They need to get him extended long term.

April 3, 2011  10:21 AM ET

Scioscia is a good manager but he doesn't have the pitching to even stay with the A's, let alone the hitting to keep up with the Rangers.

The Tribune is known for poor analysis, but they've really outdone themselves with this one.

Rangers have looked really good the last couple of games but all I could think was great pitching beats great hitting. They'll have to continue putting up 9 and 12 run spots all year to have a chance.

Old time Rangers baseball. Was good to see Colby Lewis get some run support. He was dead last in that category last season. 12 runs last year was 6 games worth for him.

Yeah, alongside Cole Hamels.

Last time I checked, Anaheim is a major market, not a small city pork chop.

This sounds like Phil Rogers Tribune trash to me.

Is there a player out there that won't be rumored to go to the yankees?

"Some people think" the world is flat; doesn't make it so.

Why would the Angels trade him and who would they get in return? Weaver is an elite pitcher. It's not like the Angels would just give him to the Yankees.

Great question.

If the Yankees want pitching they call always call the Phils and make em a deal for Blanton. But they won't just give Blanton away either.

I wonder who the yankees are willing to part with and who the phillies will take if this is a possibility.

Is every possible starter regardless of contract situation going to be "possibly" going to the Yankees?

A couple of top prospects would get the deal done.
