09:39 AM ET 04.03 | Lately, it's been apparent that Amare Stoudemire isn't wild about having Carmelo Anthony inherit his role as the team's go-to player. "Looks like Amare is in a funk," said one Eastern Conference GM this past week, after watching Stoudemire play without his normal maniacal intensity in the Knicks' wins over Orlando and New Jersey, while Anthony was putting up more than 30 points and getting the shots in crunch time in both games. "But you could expect that when they made the trade for Carmelo."

QUOTE(#3):

In fairness to Amare he was pretty worn down at that point. He's played hard this season carrying the Knicks before Melo got there.

and if the knicks play to get the most out of amare they will get less out of melo - and if you play to get the most out of melo they will get less out of amare - the knicks (IMHO) have 2 stars with differant styles of play if you play to 1 the other will be unhappy

Amare must be pissed.
He turned down Miami to be THE MAN on NY and avoid being Wade's sidekick in South Beach, after being Nash's sidekick in Phoenix.

And now he must settle to be Melo's sidekick since Melo is a clutch shooter that can create his own unstoppable shot on isolation plays while Amare must be assisted to score.

Amare is not a smart player.
He is also a weak rebounder, defender and passer.
A one dimensional fair weather scorer.
This does not qualify as star in my book.
Most overrated player in the league playing for most overrated coach in the league.
A typical Knick recipe for disaster.

I figured this would happen....

Melo is anything BUT a leader or crunch time player....he is by FAR the most overrated 'STAR' in the NBA....he makes ZERO players around him bettwr and plays even LESS defense that amare....

Amare wasn't exactly cool to the other fools on his team at Phoenix either. This isn't something that's going to get better..only worse when anotherr star joins next year.

i don't think Amare ever had the option to go to Miami...Wade/Bosh/LeBron had it planned as them going all along

'Maniacal' intensity.'?Huh?I never saw that all year.Bottom line is amare is a little worn down and is getting used to playing with 3 new startersThat being said, not sure why his rebounding #s are falling

well atleast in the last two games, melo has gone up...

April 3, 2011  11:56 AM ET

hahaha...that's amare for you, Being in so many foster homes and growing up the way he had, Amare has lots of insecurities and it will always show sooner or later..it's inside his psyche it's what he's made of...

Other than the one knee injury Amare has been fairly healthy....I mean a freak accident of getting poked in the eye br an opposing player isn't really being injury prone...
