08:06 AM ET 04.04 | Leslie Frazier spent Saturday at the Wild game, but his plans beyond that -- specifically, whether he wants a quarterback in the first round -- are harder to pin down. Frazier made it clear Saturday that he was in no way saying the Vikings would just take a quarterback for the sake of it. "The only thing I was saying about that is that would be ideal," he said. "That's the term I used. But you don't want to get to the point where you're reaching for a player just because you have what you perceive as a need at quarterback. We want to get the best player that's available, and if the quarterback we like is not there you can't just say, 'OK, we're going to take that guy because he plays quarterback.' We have other needs other than that position."

By the time the Vikes rebuild this mess, Peterson will be out of waranty and you'll see him sitting on a use RB lot. Too bad. I hate to see talent wasted on going-nowhere teams. He's a Hall-of-Fame player who will be forgotten by the time he hangs 'em up.

I hope that doesn't happen. I hate the Vikes but Peterson's a superb talent and I love watching him play. However, it's looking more and more like he's going to spend his peak years on a team without much chance of a SB. Who knows though. Couple of trades or strike gold on a late round QB pick and they could be right back in it.
