Another World Series championship banner will not be the only added decoration to Fenway Park. The Red Sox officially announced plans to upgrade the ballpark yesterday, which include adding seats, standing room tickets, and linear scoreboards. Most notable is the addition of 800 seats in the expanded State Street Pavilion and tickets in the "Standing Room Corner" near the left-field foul pole. Other home improvements include eight new private suites, waterproofing in the bleachers area, and structural upgrades.

Just hang Tek's pants up and they can store the balls in his pockets.

They are mulling a new section called "The Lie Down Area".

Their engineers calculate that having fans lying belly down and stacked atop one another would mean the club can sell an additional 12,000 tickets per game to ecstatic members of Red Sox Nation.....

ghost, that sounds more like the worlds biggest orgee.

Wow! That's a good idea!

You can build a bunch of coffin-sized cubbyholes with the end facing home plate open and build them right into the center field wall!

Or, even better, you can suspend them from a crane above the outfield and point them downward, angled toward the infield. You could call them the "blimp-view" seats, and charge hundreds per slot!

That's thinking small, though -- I think the final Fenway upgrade will come in the near future, as soon as modern technology allows us to miniaturize fans to a fraction of their current size. That will allow JWH to replace all the current seats with hundreds of thousands of matchbox-sized luxury boxes. Using this technology, I predict the Red Sox will be the first team to sell one hundred million seats in a single season.

At least the troughs are gone

November 17, 2007  05:35 PM ET

add some height to to the right field wall...if the outfielders can lean over it..it is too low....any line drive is going to be a home run

November 19, 2007  06:09 PM ET

any old ballpark is better than a new one in the Bronx...

ah, the troughs...I remember my kids freakin out at the prospect of having to use those...

November 19, 2007  06:11 PM ET

Didn't the Mets have that new Lie Down area this year? How did that work out?

November 20, 2007  01:41 AM ET

With the 9% increase in ticket prices, they ought to do something. After they do, wait till next year's prices come out. Now, **** and pony up, RSN. Theo knows suckers when he sees them.

November 20, 2007  01:42 AM ET

One more thing, RSN. You always talk about cheaters, but how about them cheatin' Pats?

November 20, 2007  09:19 AM ET

uh oh, on a Red Sox thread we have "a Giants Fan" bringing up the Rule Violation that happened in the first quarter of the first game...that the NFL gave a fine and 1st round draft pick forfeit....a Giants Fan!

Are there any Giants Fans left?

Gett off the Red Sox thread...the Giants are the final NFC team that will be totally embarrassed by the Patriots....watch the game...I hope they run the score up on ELI and you guys by fifty...
When the NFL puts up the fianl year stats on this season in which the Patriots rewrite the NFL record books...a Giants Fan..you'll be the only whiner still out there saying..."but they cheated in the first quarter of the first game....wahhhh..." Man. I hope you're not a typical Giants fan...get over it and try to figure out how Eli can win at least one big game...
