08:09 AM ET 04.04 | The good news for Celtics fans is that this injury has been dubbed minor. Celtics coach Doc Rivers said the right calf strain suffered by Shaquille O'Neal early in the second quarter was "minor" and he is not expected to miss extensive time. But there is no word on when he will return. O'Neal left TD Garden walking with a slight limp and it appears the injury looked worse that doctors discovered it was. O'Neal missed 27 games with foot and Achilles' tendon injuries and was making his first appearance since Feb. 1. "The update is that it's not the same injury," Rivers said. "Had nothing to do with the Achilles; it's a calf strain. It's not a bad strain, but it's a strain. So similar to the one Von [Wafer] had but not even close to the severity. Well, 'I don't know [when he will be back]' is the answer."

Is anyone surprised?

For those that just want Shaq to eat up space and minutes in the paint...

Boston is screwed. They put all their eggs in O'Neals, and got rid of someone that wa actually ready to play!! Even Kristic is gone now. Guess they got Vafer and the water boy to play Center.

I said Shaq needs to rest for the playoffs! He was was jogging down the court and no one even touched him too. He really needs a good trainer and keep his body right.

Im surprised he made it to the 2nd quarter

I think it was bc they didnt play him in the first is the only reason he made it to the second.....LORD he just needs to retire...Its embarrassing...

I'm surprised that not too many fans on this forum didn't see this coming. So... out the window with the history of his shenanigans with the Lakers, Heat, and cleveland??? There are other players that need a job more than a malingerer. Good-bye Shaq... thanks for the memories.

What has the Big Shamrock been doing the past 2 months he's been on the shelf? It doesn't appear that he has been working out if his minor injury occurred without any contact.

Shaq was very cheap so it wasn't a bad idea to give him a roster spot for cheap. What was a really bad idea was trading the starting center thinking Shaq could be depended on to take his place.

I can agree with that, but we were trying to give pierce and allen backups, but that didn't mean we had to trade off perkins in the process.... anyway wasup MMA!?!? butler won, as i predicted and they're going all the way!

please retire....

He was eating twinkies, ho-ho cakes, and chocolate candy kisses. ...and oh yeah, probably worrying about who was entertaining his ex all this time.
