Benching upsets Bulls' Wallace
As the Bulls rolled in to Los Angeles to play the Clippers on Saturday, some have begun to believe there was just one good year in Ben Wallace. In Thursday's 112-102 loss at Phoenix, Wallace once again sat out the fourth quarter, in which the Bulls came back from 15 behind to lead by two with eight minutes left. Wallace clearly was upset following the game and laughed derisively when advised that coach Scott Skiles explained the matchups were bad for Wallace with the Suns playing Boris Diaw at center.

Lead by two with eight minutes left what an accomplishment to be so close to victory and lose by 10pts is a tough break there.
Keep your head up Wallace my friend your making 20 mil a season and there isn't even any pressure on you to help the team win because you can't check into the game.

This guy has not shown much effort at all since he came to the Bulls...I think this was a gigantic mistake to sign a center who cannot score on a team of small guards. They needed and still need an offensive threat in the paint, Paxson can you hear the clock ticking on your time as a GM...maybe the Bulls will hire the right guy in BJ this time around...

That's it.....let's test all NBA players for juicing supplementation.
They are doing it also....smaller roster sizes....for sure....we got juice. Big Ben is just not wanting to try he ahs to face Artest and other thugs who roam the paint.
Life is short....the window is closing.....Jordan was only Jordan becasue of a man named Pippen.
And then there was Rodman.

Yeah; that's just what they need. Someone to jack up 35 shots, while alienating the rest of the team. Somone get Kobe on the horn.

ben wallace is a good player not great but good, i was happy when the bulls signed him, but he hasn't really reproduced his pistons form and i doubt anyone would want him, maybe besides detroit since kobe wants to play with wallace maybe the lakers and bulls can work something out since kwame is in the last year of his contract, or better yet wallace can be used in a potential trade for kobe maybe sending him with hinrich and gordon could make mitch and buss give in

I would like to say I feel bad for him, but I'm a Piston's fan, so I was soured when and how he left. He is an all-star player in this league, but certainly not on any team. He is a very unique individual, with amazingly unique skills, but he can't be considered an offensive threat. He needs to be on a team that is structured for the type of player that he is, and doesn't need to get the dominance or the points out of his position. That is why he fit in so well with Detroit. He could only produce similarly on a few teams in this league, Spurs, Celtics, and maybe the Lakers.

Wallace only gives his best effort in the playoffs. He needs to get motivated.

Once again, a head coach has piqued Ben Wallace's pride. Scott Skiles is walking in Flip Saunder's footsteps. Where Detroit's Dumars was able to find a way to solve the Ben Wallace dilemma by offloading Wallace, the Bulls's Paxson may not have as easy a way out. Wallace has been exposed and I doubt that any other GMs would be willing to do let Paxson do to them what Dumars did to Paxson.
If Ben Wallace had any real pride he would ask the Bulls to allow him to terminate his contract (ala Derek Fisher and the Jazz) because it really doesn't look like he can live up to it.
Instead, he continues to be a divisive force especially as seen in this quote from the article:
"Wallace clearly was upset following the game and laughed derisively when advised that coach Scott Skiles explained the matchups were bad for Wallace with the Suns playing Boris Diaw at center".
Let's see... Boris Diaw is a mobile multi-dimensional player who can hit from just about anywhere on the court or set up a teammate for an easy score if he does not have a shot. Would any coach think this is a good matchup for a center like Wallace? I doubt any would.
But Ben Wallace always know better than coaches who are not afraid to address his limitaitons. Flip Saunders? Whaty does he know? Scott Skiles? What does he know?
Not as much as Ben Wallace, in Ben Wallace's book. This attitude, along with his diminishing abilities, allowed Joe Dumars to let the Bulls "steal" a fan favorite - probably with a big sigh of relief.
The Bulls thought they were getting a player who was a paragon of professionalism in Wallace. Wake up and smell the...
The way things are going with this team, the Bulls "stole" the wrong Wallce from Dumars' crew. They should have found a way to "steal" Rasheed and not Ben.
The article quotes Ben Wallace thusly : "I said what I wanted to say. That's it. We're still together. As long as we stay together as a team, it will give us the opportunity to win. That's all you can ask for."
Wallace has said what he has wanted to say. That much is true. He has flagrantly violated team rules, made a mockery of team rules by forcing a compromise when there really should not have been one, and challenged and publicly questioned the coaching staff - all while providing numbers that are less than stellar.
Is this team really "together as a team"? It does not seem so.
Does this team seem like it gives itself opportunities to win? It does not seem so.
Is this all you can ask for? Absolutely not.
The fans want more for their emotional and financial investments in this team. Bulls management should get more from the largest financial investment they have on this squad - if not in terms of on-court numbers then in terms of professional behavior at the least (forget about leadership).
Ben Wallace can best serve this team by abiding by his own words:
"If I can't go out and help this team get stops down the stretch, why am I here? Why don't we just go on? Pack it up!"
Since he doesn't seem to be living up to the first part, maybe he should go ahead and "pack it up"?
But no, he would not do that.
Ben Wallace has his pride.

As much as I love Ben Wallace, he shouldn't be surprised right now. If you don't get it done, you sit out. Now whatever he has to do to get back on the floor in the fourth, he better do it quick before the fourth quarter squad gets in a groove, or else he'll always be ending games on the bench.

So let me get this straight....pay $60 mill for Ben Wallace and then he's on the bench. I guess that shows the brilliance of the Bulls front office.
Any dumbass could have seen that Ben Wallace was already on the delcine after coming to Chicago because at the time his blocks per game, rebounds and everything had decrease for the third straight year and was only good to be a Shaq stopper. Great $60 mill move by the Bulls, they have another Tyson Chandler with Wallace

actually, sticking with tyson chandler might have been the better move... younger and less established, he's going to be hungry to prove himself... im a pistons fan but let's face it, ben is not worth 60 million... he was great in motown because he was a product of the system, but he doesn't necessarily fit into any system.

Ben Wallace does not fit in the Bulls system. Without a big man who can score offensively in the paint, the Bulls have to run the ball and hope to hit threes in transition and have Deng slash to the paint. Wallace doesn't want to run and fit better in the Pistons half-court sets where his defense could have time to develop. When the Bulls faced the Suns, Wallace could have played Diaw, but the pace of the game was too quick for him. Same problem for Yao and Shaq.

It is pathetic to see this Bull's iteration "playing" the way they are. I remember when they had Sloan, Van Lier, Walker, Love and Thurmond. Then MJ and Pippen, with a cast of quality journeymen.
