Pens looking at Wilkes-Barre sniper?

08:37 AM ET 04.04 | The Penguins are having trouble scoring goals, and it may lead to a call-up. Alex Kovalev has two goals in 17 games since being acquired from Ottawa, and while it cost very little to add him -- a seventh-round draft choice that becomes a sixth rounder if the Penguins win a playoff round -- the return on that investment has been pretty skimpy, too. Especially when one factors in the liability that Kovalev can be at times -- it seems as if there is a dreadful giveaway for every breathtaking bit of stick handling he produces -- he has to generate more goals to justify his continued presence in a prominent role. ... As for bringing up a goal scorer from the American Hockey League, such as Brett Sterling, it's always possible that such a move could work out, especially over the short term.

Let's Go Pens!!

"Pens may need captain from IR." <-- There, fixed the title for ya.

I was happy to see the Pens pick up Kovalev and like the article says he can do some amazing thinks handling the puck. He just can't seem to put the puck in the net and he does give the puck away too much. He seems to be hustling more, but I think age has caught up to him. I'd hate to see them take someone away from Wilkes-Barre they are the top cede in the AHL and they have a real good shot at the Calder Cup.

Ah a Penguin thread, is it too early to mention Matt Cooke? lol

Let me summarize the rest of the posts:

Crosby sucks. #@@!!@ Cooke. Mario Hypocrite. You can't say anything because you had Armstrong, Kaspuritis, Tibbets and Bryan Watson (how many people remember him?) playing for you.

Did I miss anything? Let the game begin.

Sure did - thee Pens are also Bettman's pets and the league favours them every chance they get! ha

I like your passion for WB, but you KNOW the parent club will prioritize its needs over the baby Pens.

Huh? You don't want the Pens to jeopardize a chance at the Calder Cup to make a run at the Stanley Cup? You aren't serious are you?

The real question here is how bad IS Sidney hurt?

I remember Bugsy! Fondly, too. A great guy. Has a little bar and restaurant in Alexandria and you don't even have to fight to get in!

Fact is, if he doesn't tear it up in the playoffs, the world will know its not about effort, he just has nothing left. This being a contract year, there's no doubt if he's got it, he'll bring it to the playoffs.

In those days I didn't remember leaving!!! haven't been there for years but it was a pretty nice place.

I think that photo is what Sid would like to be doing to Kovalev at this point.
Oh well, I see Sid is improving nicely from his concuss...;)

The Pens would be further ahead keeping Big Sid on the shelf until next season. Too much risk for the worlds best to come back and get reinjured or concussed again while so out of game shape and with the higher intencity.
Sure you want to mess with your franchise for years to come for an iffy run this year.
