Why Ducks waived Bryzgalov

Signaling their inability to get anything in return for their expendable backup goaltender, the Ducks put Ilya Bryzgalov on waivers Friday to give him a chance at earning a starting job elsewhere. General Manager Brian Burke informed Bryzgalov of the move after Thursday night's 6-3 victory over the Kings at Staples Center. Bryzgalov headed to his Yorba Linda home after saying goodbye to teammates. Bryzgalov has been the backup to Jean-Sebastien Giguere for more than two seasons. This season, the Russian netminder has gone 2-3-1 with a 2.55 goals-against average in nine games. Agent Don Meehan said his client wanted a clearer shot at becoming a No. 1 goalie with Jean-Sebastien Giguere entrenched in Anaheim.

If I had the chance to be the Coyotes GM for one day, it would be today to grab Bryzgalov off waivers. This team has a serious goaltending problem (for a starter), here's something they could do.

Not sure if its a goaltending problem in PHX..., their D hasn't been doing much and all they got on offense is Doan. Bryz wouldn't look too bad in PHX colors but, not sure if that's the issue. As for putting this guy on waivers...? I think this just proves that Burkie can't get anything for him. But in the end, I hope he sticks around in Duckland..., they could use this guy in January when Giggie starts to wear out!

If Columbus, Boston, or Colorado signs him, they become pretty awesome teams. I think Phoenix has more issues than goaltending.

There will be more than a few teams lining up to grab him on re-entry. That way whining Burke and the Ducks will have to pay for half his wages. If I was Lowe, I'd grab him just to see Burke go balistic again! Seeing Burke going into spasms? H*ell yes! That alone would be worth it! Heh! Heh! Heh! (DC)

Wonder no more! Ilya Bryzgalov is Coyotes property now! Good move by the dogs! (DC)

This guy wasn't the best goalie. When he did play he had the best defense in front of him. Just think of niedermayer's ability to clear the rebounds.

And now he doesn't have Neidermayer ahead of him so..., good luck with Jovo and company! Good move though..., Tellqvist and Auld haven't been playing that well lately and maybe this will jumpsuit the Coyotes!

WHY?... Because they used all their salary cap on Bertuzzi (WELL DONE DUCKS>>>LOL)
