Harbaugh's favorite QB?

07:57 AM ET 04.05 | While the number of top quarterbacks varies between pundits, what matters most is the order in which teams rank them on their own boards. The question for 49ers fans is, in which order does Jim Harbaugh have the 2010 quarterback class? My guess: 1. Blaine Gabbert, Missouri. ... One anonymous AFC personnel director reportedly said of Gabbert: "Are you really going to build the future of your franchise around that guy? To me, it feels like settling." Indeed, Gabbert's allure is more about projection than performances. He was 18-8 as starter the past two seasons and last year had a ho hum 16-9 touchdown-to-interception ratio. ... Still, Jim Harbaugh believes he will be able to mold the 49ers' next quarterback, and Gabbert would give him plenty of material -- 6-foot-5, 235 lbs., athletic, strong arm, quick release -- with which to work.

I think we all know, and clearly it's not Alex Smith.

Harbaugh's favorite QB is still at Stanford!

Harbaugh will start sending love letters to Gabbert before the draft.

Or maybe he goes with what he has for the moment and looks ahead to the '12 draft for his QB.

Jim Harbaugh is the Colts all time favorite player. It was he who led them to a last place finish in 1997. The colts then used that pick to take Peyton Manning.
When Jim Harbaugh looks at the QBs in this draft he sees himself. A former first round pick of the Bears who did OK some years, and was bust material the next. Mediocrity mirrored.

David Carr is the only QB on the roster. Smith is a free agent.

Is it someone from Mississippi? God! Sorry, I'll go wash my mouth out with soap now!

Speaking of QB's who had no business being drafted in the 1st round...

Same with this years' crop. None are 1st round material.

But 3 or 4 of them will go in the first round, to the same teams who have proven that they don't know what they're doing by getting themselves into Quarterback Hell in the first place.

the theory of insanity continues. keep doing the same stupid things and hope for different results.

He has got to know that. But if you don't have QB for the center to snap it too you will get called for delay of game.

Seeing himself might be giving himself too much credit.

OK expert.... how about #s 2 and 3 after Gabbert?

The more I look at college QBs who fail in the NFL, the more I believe that it's the ability to adjust to the speed and complexity of the pro game that determines whether they'll make it or not. Arm strength, athletic ability, college stats, performance at the combine, are all secondary. And I don't think any team has a valid way to measure that yet. Maybe by how well they play video games.

overall true but some teams just have a real knack for picking up the garbage.

So what happens if we don't have an NFL season at all this year? How does that affect next years draft order?

DC, LOL, That is so true, but I have said for months that IMO, Gabbert is the best QB on the draft board.

Gabbert kinda reminds me of a less talented version of Matthew Stafford...a guy who didn't really do much of anything in college yet is at the top of the draft boards because he has good measureables and arm strength.
