Perry trick adds momentum to Hart race

08:32 AM ET 04.07 | In what could be a first-round playoff preview, Corey Perry served some notice. This was another look-at-me moment for the Ducks' Perry, at least where the Hart Trophy campaign is concerned. He tossed his hat trick into the ring Wednesday. This, though, was a team moment, and Perry knew it. His three goals were the backbone to the Ducks' 6-2 stomping of the San Jose Sharks at Honda Center. Teemu Selanne, Cam Fowler and Jason Blake also scored goals. "I've said all along that getting to the playoffs is more important than winning an award," Perry said. Perry's production has the Ducks close. He has 19 goals in the last 14 games and an NHL-leading 50 this season. He is the first Duck to reach 50 goals since Selanne in 1997-98.

Perry is on fire right now ... good time of year for that.
Wild West has been fun to watch this season.
I still question if Emery is going to carry them, and having to ride the same line and a half of "o" for over half a game/every game... but hey - its almost playoffs!!!!

Holy S447! The story doesn't even have a picture yet and some piece of crap spammer already posted junk.

Perry will win the Rocket Richard trophy. St-Louis should win the Hart. One of the soeurs Sedin will probably win it.

Hoping you are wrong on the Sedins. While Perry wasn't even on the Hart radar a month ago, I think he's probably the best candidate right now. His team's starting goalie went down with vertigo, and they've had to plug in a guy who hadn't played a game in over a year. The team's captain - and potentially best player - was out for an extended time too. The team started off slow, but Perry has willed them into the playoffs. He's not playing with the talented lineup the Sedins have, and his play didn't tail off at the most important time of year like St. Louis and the Bolts in general have. Plus, Perry doesn't depend on his linemates to get him his points as much as St. Louis.

I am on the Corey Perry for the Hart wagon, officially, as of last night's game. (was looking at Iggy lately too - 40+ goals again! Gotta admit I was one of the guys saying the Flames should dump him back in December. But no playoffs, no MVP).

This team has the best top 6 forwards going into the playoffs-if they stay hot "No way San Jose"

I dunno. All I can tell you is MY HEART was RACING last night after my Wings were singed and the Hawks were given that golden gift goal by Moronto.

I agree. True to tradition, the Sharks are rounding into form just in time for the playoffs.

Never even had one on my team. Mr Gionta had 48, that was the closest I have seen since Elias put up 46 I believe. This guy and that line are redonkulus.

I imagine it is a maddening tradition for Sharks fans. Who would you prefer the Wings face round one ?

Reminds me:

Was watching a highlight reel of Rick Nash the other night (TSN has been doing these Top 10s, Nash was in the "Most Skilled Players of All Time" list as an Also Ran).

I realized while watching that reel that it is John LeClair that Nash most resembles. He's advertised to be more than that, but he is this generation's John LeClair. Great hands, awesome size, solid skater. Not a great leader, not single-handedly carrying a team anywhere.

I'm not slagging Nash here - I wouldn't complain about a comparison to LeClair (in his Philly days - huge vajj in Mtl) - just saying maybe rating him up there with a Mario Lemieux or even Lindros is a bit much.
