Palmer's not going anywhere

08:05 AM ET 04.08 | Sorry, Dolphans. Even when teams are eventually allowed to trade again, the Bengals are not going to ship [Carson] Palmer to the Dolphins or any other team. Bengals owner Mike Brown is entrenched in his position of refusing to give into Palmer's trade demands. And when Brown digs in, he stays there. Anyone who has ever dealt with him in a football or business situation will tell you as much. Could the Dolphins or another team make a ridiculous offer, such as a couple of premium picks, to force Brown to change his mind? Sure. But that offer isn't coming. Regardless of how desperate another team might be for a veteran quarterback -- and a bunch of them are -- giving up a first- and a third-round pick, or a second-round pick, or even a pair of seconds for Palmer is never going to happen.

Smart move. The money saved can be used to go the free agent route. Hey, they were losing with him at QB.

I'd rather make him retire and get nothing out of it than trade him and get something in return. Perhaps it's a pattern of brain-dead decisions like that which make a franchise quarterback want to leave town in the first place?

Can't blame the owner... I wouldn't let him pull a Haynesworth, either.

He was always a problem. Owners are dumb enough to pay him. I still think the players union should have leaned on him and told him to grow up and play or give the money back.

When Mike Brown digs in, he just gets deeper into the doo-doo.
Seriously, Mikey, he's not going to play for you. Trade him and get something, or let him retire and get nothing. It's money, Mike, not the principle. And money is more important than anything, right? Mike? You getting this?
I guess not. He's dug himself in too deep to hear me.

Why would the player's union make that type of request of a fellow player?

Actually, it's the Bengals who aren't going anywhere. The upside will be that they'll have high draft picks for years to come.

I think this was predicted in the Mayan calendar. As well as the Bungles not winning the super bowl before the next ice age.
