08:16 AM ET 04.08 | Though frustration boiled within the Red Sox Thursday, a trip home and an engagement with the Yankees awaited, leaving Dustin Pedroia feisty. Regarding how the fans might react upon the Red Sox' return home, both Pedroia and David Ortiz remained optimistic the hometown support would do their team good. "We need 'em," the second baseman said. "We need someone on our side. Carl [Crawford] and [Kevin Youkilis] Youk and J.D. [Drew], they were getting yelled at the whole time. It'll be good to have someone cheering for us for a change. You're either two feet in now or you're two feet out. Let us know now, because we're coming." "They're going to be fine," said Ortiz of the Fenway fans. "There's not two Red Sox teams, there's only one. You have to cheer for this one if you're a Red Sox fan, right?"

The Evil Empire II will recover. Probably sweep the Yanks.

There can be no Evil Empire II unless the Evil Empire has fallen. Rumors of their demise are greatly exaggerated.

To all those who accused me of "sandbagging" when I was hedging my words (over the winter) about the Sox future... Told you so!!!!">Told you so!!!!

The boys on the field have the play the game, and no team got the memo that they were supposed to roll over for a team that had a good winter. We are mere spectators. But then that's why it's so eminently watchable.

Pardon my homer moment, but... Go Sox!

Pardon me for my geek moment, but... The phrase of the day for the Sox is Regression to the mean. No place to go but up.

And home-cooked Yankees? What's not to love about that? 8)

relax Dustin...the money the fans shell out at games pays for your salaries as well as your teammates. If you cant take the boos, then leave the sport.

He's just trying to garner support...

... Pedroia knows what to expect if he and/or the team struggles.

Booing is going to occur.

The Bronx is the home of the boo bears. Fenway tends to be a bit more supportive - particularly with the enemy coming in their Den. Pedey is just being Pedey.

The boston fans are great. They will support their team no matter what the circumstances. The Sux just have to get back to fundementals and play baseball. The wins will come. The series will be split this time.

However if the Yanks win the first two it is going to get very binding in Boston. More beans please.

the question of the day is when does it swing from "concern" to "panic"...0 and 6 is a horrible start, no doubt, but its "just the start"...but what if it gets to 0 and 7, 8 or 9?...when is it time to do something and stop waiting to see when it will turn around and the club starts playing ball...
