08:47 AM ET 04.09 | Boston GM Theo Epstein isn't big on player meetings or big speeches, but with his team listing at 0-6 he addressed the Red Sox after batting practice Friday. And following the Red Sox's 9-6 win over the Yankees at Fenway, several players gave him credit for doing so. The gist, according to Kevin Youkilis, was "don't worry about all the bull and just go out there and play - I have confidence in you." "It was a good message for us to hear," David Ortiz said. "He just said, 'Do what you do.'"

Total B.S. Phil Hughes should get all the credit. Who could not see that coming. Jay Lenno could go 2-4 against him.
The real question is do hits against Hughes still count as Major League stats?

Just as legit as hits against Lackey

Hughes = Verducci effect. How's that for abuse, Cashman?

Hughes is an inspiration to all kids out there with an arm and a ball. They got to be saying, " Hey, if he can pitch in the Big leagues, then anybody can."

If Giradi had a sack at all, he would give that spot in the rotation to Colon and hide Hughes in the bullpen, hope for a decint outing and shuffle his a## out of town.
And he sure would bat Jeter at the bottom of the order where he belongs at this point and sit him every four days.
" If he only had a sack."

That was tough to watch but the bull pen looked good, lets see how long they will keep it going.

Even though Colon looked good yesterday, there is no way to tell if that's what your going to get all season. Colon is a head case. I'd be surprised to see him last the season with the Yankees, just going by how he's been with his last few teams.

He earned that spot in the spring. Hughes is a mess. Colon has stuff, Hughes-not at all. How long do you give him? This goes back to July of last year.

I agree fully that Hughes 18-8 record was more from run support then because he was pitching well but Colon just has that history and he's only pitched a 100 innings the last three years in the big leagues. Chances are he just won't have the stamina to go a full season. Also it wasn't arm problems that caused him early exits from the Red and White Sox, so the Yankees will have to watch him very carefully.
